Rank Name Team Vs Receiving Fantasy
Rec Yds TD 1-9 TD 10-39 TD 40+ TD Total
1Graham,Jimmy NOSTBB880110220
Graham is a must-start against a Tampa Bay defense that ranks close to average in fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends.
2Davis,Vernon SFOARI690010115
He is quietly putting together a fantastic season in which he's currently tied for second in TD's by tight ends this year.
3Witten,Jason DALPHI680100114
While Orton dusts off the cob webs, he'll lean on his WR1 and tight end for the majority of his targets. Witten remains a TE1 given how inexperienced QBs go to the tight end.
4Bennett,Martellus CHIGBP580100114
The Bears tight end has been very active.
5Cook,Jared STLSEA575010113
The lone bright spot for this offense. He'll find success in the middle of this defense.
6Thomas,Julius DENOAK560010112
Fitting that in this breakout season of his, Julius hauled in Peyton Manning's record breaking 51st touchdown pass.
7Griffin,Ryan HOUTEN660010112
UPDATE 12/28: Making two consecutive starts in place of the injured Garrett Graham (hamstring – Injured Reserve), Griffin tallied a very respectable 11 catches and 128 receiving yards. The rookie will get the starting nod in Week 17. He looks like a solid fantasy TE2 play against a Tennessee defense that has struggled mightily against enemy tight ends.
8Miller,Zach SEASTL465010112
He plays well at home and Seattle is going to need him to keep pressure down the middle.
9Olsen,Greg CARATL665100112
Although Olsen hasn’t hit pay dirt in four straight games, he averaged nine targets, six catches and 62 receiving yards per contest. Start Olsen as a fantasy TE1 against an Atlanta defense that has struggled to contain opposing tight ends all season. He scored against the Falcons back in Week 9.
10Clay,Charles MIANYJ450100111
Clay is coming off another poor performance but he did post decent numbers when these teams met back in week 13.
11Lewis,Marcedes JACIND550100111
He has scored in four straight games. Although the Colts rank well above average in fantasy points allowed to enemy tight ends, keep rolling with the red-hot Lewis as a high-end fantasy TE2.
12Walker,Delanie TENHOU545100110
Consider Walker a decent play as a fantasy TE2 versus a Houston defense that ranks well below average in fantasy points allowed to enemy tight ends. Tennessee likely will go run heavy on offense, so don’t expect a big receiving yardage total. Walker scored against Houston back in Week 2.
13Fauria,Joseph DETMIN33010019
The Lions tight ends gets a few looks, including some at the goal line. With Pettigrew out, the rookie will be the only pass catching option for Detroit at tight end.
14Myers,Brandon TBBNOS33010019
Myers isn't a great option but he could sneak in a touchdown against the Redskins.
15Cameron,Jordan CLEPIT67000007
Monitor the concussion, but if he plays he will be involved.
16Ertz,Zach PHIDAL44000004
Ertz's entire value is touchdown based. TD or nothing isn't the winning formula for a fantasy trophy.
17Pitta,Dennis BALCIN44000004
Flacco's best friend doesn't mean as much when Flacco is playing injured.
18Gates,Antonio SDCKCC44500004
Continues to slide down the ranks of fantasy tight ends you talk yourself into starting.
19Chandler,Scott BUFNEP34000004
There are better tight end options for week 17 as Chandler has not scored a receiving touchdown since week 6.
20Celek,Brent PHIDAL43500003
Celek has been more consistent in the red zone than Ertz. Still, both are a coin flip for one of Foles Tds.
21Paulsen,Logan WASNYG33000003
Paulsen falls in at the bottom of the barrel for tight end options.
22Rivera,Mychal OAKDEN33500003
Not the worst starting tight end of the bunch, but Rivera doesn't exactly get a ton of work either.
23Fleener,Coby INDJAC33000003
During the last two weeks, the ice-cold Fleener amassed just two catches for eight yards on four targets. The second-year pro draws a sweet matchup against a Jaguars defense that ranks near the bottom of the league in fantasy points allowed to enemy tight ends. However, we don’t trust the struggling Fleener as anything more than a roll-of-the-dice fantasy TE2.
24Cumberland,Jeff NYJMIA33000003
Cumberland wasn't factor when these teams met back in week 13.
25Gresham,Jermaine CINBAL33000003
The Ravens are tough vs. the tight end.
26Housler,Robert ARISFO43500003
San Francisco has incredibly athletic linebackers that will make his job a tough one all day long.
27Miller,Heath PITCLE33000003
He has not developed like we thought he would this year coming off the knee injury, but the Browns struggle vs. the tight end and Miller has had plenty of success in this matchup.
28Wright,Tim TBBNOS43500003
Wright's matchup is favorable on paper, but it's hard to trust the rookie against a fired up Saints defense at the Superdome.
29Green,Ladarius SDCKCC12000002
No receptions the last three weeks, so to say Ladarius is a risky fantasy option would of course be an understatement.
30Winslow,Kellen NYJMIA22000002
Winslow has not practiced yet this week as he has been limited with a knee injury.
31Ellison,Rhett MINDET32500002
With Carlson out, Ellison gets a couple of looks.
32Eifert,Tyler CINBAL22000002
Eifert is banking on a jump ball in the end zone to salvage his day, next year is the year.
33Fasano,Anthony KCCSDC32500002
This offense appears too unpredictable to roll with someone like Fasano this week.
34Quarless,Andrew GBPCHI22000002
Not a lot of action of late, a risky start this week.
35Mulligan,Matthew CHIGBP11000001
Mulligan and Hoomanawanui spend most of their time providing extra protection for Brady.
36Mulligan,Matthew CHIGBP11000001
Mulligan and Hoomanawanui spend most of their time providing extra protection for Brady.
37Tamme,Jacob DENOAK11000001
Just goes to show, just because he's technically a cog in a prolific offense doesn't make him fantasy relevant.
38Hoomanawanui,Michael NEPBUF11000001
Hoomanawanui and Mulligan spend most of their time providing extra protection for Brady.
39McGrath,Sean KCCSDC11000001
Gets into the game plenty, even as the secondary tight end -- but he offers no fantasy upside.
