This Year's Analysis History SoCalIrishSports Round: 1 Pick: 1 Last Updated: August 15th, 2011 at 07:08 Positives One of the most consistent IDP players of the last few years. Plenty of tackles, around the ball a ton, and a playmaker. Negatives None that I can think of... Draft Strategy Wanted to get the best player off the board with the 1st pick and actually thought about Timmons who helped me out a ton a couple years back. "What you talkin' about...??" Prior Year's Analysis History raynman Round: 1 Pick: 1 Last Updated: August 28th, 2010 at 03:08 Positives He's been the #1 or #2 producing LB since he first put on the 49er uniform. No reason to believe that won't continue. Without a doubt the safest bet for #1 there is among IDPs. Negatives The offense may be a bit improved this year which means the 49ers offense will be spending more time on the field and less time for Willis. Even with that I see little reason for him to not be in the top 2 or 3 in points this year making him still a great pick at #1. Draft Strategy First pick overall you just have to go with the player most likely to be the top producer. Beason is the only one I can really see giving him some real competition for that #1 spot but as much as I love Beason as a Panthers fan, I really don't see him surpassing Willis. seadog Round: 1 Pick: 1 Last Updated: August 23rd, 2010 at 02:08 Positives Willis is pretty much the consensus #1 pick in the realm of IDP. The guy just puts up fantastic numbers. Barring injury he will once again be at or near the top. This pick was a no-brainer. Negatives Minor offseason knee surgery as well the 49ers defensive scheme may cut into his numbers slightly this season, but I'm betting not very much. Draft Strategy This pick was pretty much a given. LT1800 Round: 1 Pick: 1 Last Updated: September 2nd, 2008 at 11:09 Positives A no brainer - the only question was whether to go David Harris or Patrick Willis in this position. The clincher was that Willis did it for the whole season, while Harris only started the second half last year. Both should put up excellent numbers, but Willis is a bit more athletic and led all IDPs in points last year as a rookie. Negatives None leap to mind - youth, pedigree, prior production and opportunity all indicate he will be a stud for a long time to come. Draft Strategy Return to list of IDP players
