In the AFC, it is feasible that an 11-5 team might not make the playoffs. It is also possible that a team that started the season 1-5, including starting the season with four consecutive losses, could make the playoffs.

Inching closer and closer to the Fantasy Playoffs.  Most playoffs start next week so week 13 either means nothing or everything for those trying to clinch a berth or a bye. Therefore I will name and review as many sleepers I can with confidence and give the top & bottom 5 passing and rushing defenses with notable comments. 

This week the Betbot waxes nostalgic about dealers he knew in Vegas, Penn State players, and Speak N Spell.  Toss in another Tecmo tip and more deeper sleepers, and it's an after-Thanksgiving Betbot feast.

This is the year of the Roethlisberger effect. Similar to the Marino effect, only without the big stats. Ben Roethlisberger, thought by many to have the highest ceiling of all the young quarterbacks drafted this year, may get the opportunity to do something Marino didn’t...win a Super Bowl.

Thanksgiving brings irritating family members together, strange uncles snoring on the easy chair after too much turkey, and midweek football. I look forward to it every year. Curtis Martin is close to making good on his preseason promise of a 1500 yards season. With 1,305 yards Martin leads the NFL, but faces a Pittsburgh defense ready to protect their home turf at Heinz Field. The Steelers are 11-1, having gone ten straight wins since losing to Baltimore 30-13 in week two.

Well, fantasy football playoffs are getting cranked-up, and for those of us with IDPs,  there’s a lot of jockeying going on right now. Whether it’s off of the Waiver Wire or just picking a line-up, the search for the right player to play in each slot is getting a bit intense.

Section 209 of the Linc, a great place to see another whooping. We like Brett Favre, but we'll take the Eagles perfect record versus Favre in Philly. McNabb, Westbrook and Owens put on an offensive clinic. While the defense shuts down the future Hall of Famer and the Packers running game.

Christmas is right around the corner, and the glow of happiness and good cheer is enveloping the City of Brotherly Love, as expectations of Sugar Plums, iPods and a playoff berth warm the cockles of our hearts. Oh...wait, that's not happiness and good cheer - that's dislike and mistrust of fans of any other teams. Well, same difference.

Last week on Comcast New England Cable CN8' show Sports Pulse, we talked about those guys that weren't picked up on draft day but have made a strong impact this season.   Since we spend so much time each week talking about "who to pick up", figured with the season winding down it was a good time to unveil this year's "All Free Agency" Team.

Contest results for week 13 of the Pick 'Em Contest and Swim Contest are available.  S.Condon and tiptonhr posted the best score this week.  Pat Simth regains the overall lead from ricesue. Java posted the highest score this week and moves into second place behind defcon4 for the overall lead (dropping the two worst weeks). 

The AFC has dominated the NFC this year, winning 35 times to only 19 losses in inter-conference matches, and it shows in the playoff picture. So far all but one of the teams eliminated are from the AFC with the exception of San Francisco. Fear not, as the Niners can expect some company shortly, and probably this weekend

The end has arrived and either you are the shark or fish bait.  That is the standard line.  But then there are the teams that did not miserably fail and those that just did not make the league championship tournament.  These would be the not quite bad enough to stink up the joint but not good enough to win the whole shebang teams! 

Congratulations.  Chances are if your reading this you are either in the playoffs or have already advanced.  As I always say Fantasy Football is 75% managing/GM work and 25% luck.  This can’t be more true in a single elimination playoff format.  Don’t try and over think but go with your best players.  Matchups are good to follow in two instances.  1. When you are between two equal players or 2. When you have no other choice but to pick a sleeper and cross your fingers.  That is what I can help with so here we go again.

The first week of the playoffs in some leagues, in others the last week before playoffs. I play in a "Spooks" league on CBS Sportsline, "The Bills Vs Vikings Super Bowl Grudge Match" league. One of fifteen, and one that I’ll probably be back in if they let me.

Last week on Comcast New England Cable CN8' show Sports Pulse, we took a trip into the time machine and looked back at some of this year's draft day strategies...what worked, and what didn't. 

We sit in section 209 of Lincoln Financial Field, in the last row. And we, like the rest of our brethern, despise the Cowboys. Terrell Owens is out, but the intense dislike of this team is a steady guiding constant...One thing we can always count on, a team to always root against.

This week is serious for fantasy football players. The regular season whittled down leagues into haves and have-nots. Only a few teams from each league moves on. Every week now is Sudden Death Overtime. In each game one team goes home, one moves on. In most cases, the teams winning today will play for the league championships next week.

Week fifteen is almost in the books and I hope you were able to sit in front of a television both Saturday and Sunday. I lost count of how many times I said out loud "That's UNBELIEVABLE!"  Strange week on the fantasy front where unfortunately many of the top players did not do well.  Here are this week's top nine players:  Volek, Bennett, Josh McCown, Porter, Kerry Collins, Culpepper, Larry Johnson, Burleson, Harrington.  Ouch.
