For you history buffs, we will archive every article penned by the Shark Team in 2005. As each week is finished, we will move the content to this page so you can reminisce about the good old days ... like week 1.
The Lions just canned Steve Mariucci and it will take a few weeks/seasons to rebound from that move. Mooch was a popular coach with the players and as Dre Bly pointed out, they're not too thrilled with the move. The better move would have been to send Matt Millen packing. All of us in fantasy land can tell you their drafts under Millen have just been dog bone stupid and that is where the blame truly lies...
I have found the enemy. The enemy be none other than myself.I survived Turkey Day and realized that I am an obsessive combination Fantasy Football compulsive.

The Seadog is back in town. Many thanks to Gary (a.k.a. SJSwarm) for filling in the past couple of weeks.
The BetBot only likes one player this week, but he likes the player quite a bit. Also, he gets to a couple important pieces of reader mail and announces the schedule for the upcoming 2nd Annual BetBot Fantasy Awards Show!

The Pick 'Em, Swim and Survivor Contests are ready. If you have any questions about these contests please update the Contests Are Ready topic in the Main Tank. Good Luck.
Contest results for week 12 are now available. heschrist, parognx and dirtydog tied at 14-1-1 in the Pick 'Em Contest. Has anyone noticed that Pat Smith is making a serious run at defending his title for the year end record? Impressive (if you ask him!). Bronoco_Mark posted the highest score in the Swim Contest. adman_attack is still the overall leader (2 weeks dropped). Here are the results for the Survivor Contest. There is some separation at the top as only two members bet it all and now have S$1,231,800!
Just when you quit walking under ladders, stepping on sidewalk cracks, and throwing mirrors around the house...it's Week 13!! If you've been starting Byron Leftwich, you'd better start shopping for a QB...we've got a few decent ones of mention on the wire. The format is a bit different this week so you just might get an idea or two even if you think you're already set for the playoffs. We'll also be talking about worthwhile handcuffs for your playoff run, and who to grab for your Dynasty teams even if you're out of contention this year. So let's rock!
Last Wednesday, Ed Berliner once again opened up Comcast Cable's CN8 studio for Doug Coutts and the sharks to talk fantasy football on the Sports Pulse. We presented our Second Annual All-Turkey Team.
Week Twelve in Review Doug Coutts, Fantasy Football Senior Staff Writer Nov 28, 2005
My apologies for the lateness this week....there were some great games over the weekend...many of which went into extra time. Nearly 40 fantasy players made this week's story, which no doubt translates into some high scores in your leagues.
This week I have decided to make my 2005 Busts of the Year list. If you have one of these guys you’ve probably had an up hill battle all year, and if you were unlucky enough to draft two of these guys on your team, you’re probably already thinking about next year.
I've seen a number of fellow analysts call for a reduction in Larry Johnson's impressive totals against the Cowboys as the 'boys have been playing some stout D lately. I'm not in their camp and fall squarely in the, “Until he shows me he can't tool every team in this league, I'm never picking against him” camp...
This week the BetBot lays out his plans for the end of year awards show, including instructions for how you can help him decide. Also, some random thoughts on football, Gabe Kaplan, and Terence Trent D'Arby.
We have three Sunday 1:00pm games as our Games to Watch this week... after that, it's all about the fantasy stats. If you watch any games this weekend, watch these three and then go Christmas shopping.
In the thirteenth week, all heck breaks loose and I am desperately seeking victory. With victory comes one last chance at getting to .500.
The Seadog Report Doug Gaskell, Fantasy Football Staff Writer Dec 9, 2005

Here are the results for the Survivor Contest. Double it up - 2 members with S$2,464,900.
So how did Chris Chambers and Lee Evans combine for 355 yards and 4 td’s?As unpredictable as it was, I can’t say it was absolutely shocking because the Bills and Dolphins game fit into a category I like to call “Two Bad Teams.”
In general, a low scoring week...many of the top players will not be among those names listed here...always nice when your opponent has a throw in like Chris Chambers or Lee Evans in their starting lineup.
To answer the question about whether the Colts will rest their starters down the road and forget about the perfect season. Even they know that history and an opportunity like this is too much to just walk away from. They are going to go after it but it's funny to think that they couldn't win games with some star players sitting...
Sorry about last week folks, got trapped in an icestorm in Dallas.Anyone ever try using their hotel room keycard to scrape ice off a frozen windshield.
The BetBot shells out his Merrill Hoge Least Valuable Player awards for the season. Based on your voting in the shark tank, there won't be many surprises...
It was on the 12th day of the 12th month and all was good. For in a remote village in a quaint town in a secluded state, the Demolition sealed a victory leading to a .500 season.
Fear not, Colts owners. The Indy studs should remain in your lineup for at least another week. Dungy will play his starters which is good news for you playoff teams relying on Manning, James, Harrison & Wayne taking you to the promised land.
The Pick 'Em, Swim and Survivor Contests are ready. If you have any questions about these contests please update the Contests Are Ready topic in the Main Tank. Good Luck.
Contest results for week 14 are now available. shumway posted the best record in the Pick 'Em Contest. dirtydog and DMEDMEDI are fighting it out for the overall lead (2 weeks dropped). kebkb1 posted the highest score in the Swim Contest and has overtaken adman_attack for the season lead (again, 2 weeks dropped). We have a leader in the Survivor Contest. jbryant4 is alone with S$3,907,200.
Larry Johnson continues to reward those owners that used "too high" a draft pick on him...and this needs to be said, the Houston Texans are throwing games in order to win the Reggie Bush Sweepstakes. Bush!
The story in Detroit just goes from bad to worse. We have been mocking the Lions for their inept drafts for years, the debacle just rolls on. Think about this, the last time the Lions were worth their salt they had Barry Sanders running the football...
The end of the year brings many opportunities where teams just give up, and there are many bet against games out there. Especially, second half betting, as some teams just want to get on the plane home.
Happy Holidays! We are winding down Fantasy Football at the Virgin office. One more article about the last fantasy football game of the season and voila, we open up the prognosticating arm of the office and write about some football games.

Beware of your Colts, Bengals, Patriots, and Seahawks this week. Each of those teams has clinched their respective divisions. Don't panic. This doesn't mean you should bench Peyton Manning in favor of Chris Simms. But keep in mind, you're looking at three quarters (at the most) of their normal output. The Studs lists will remain the same, but be sure to examine your matchups closely as rule #1 is merely a "guideline" from this point on. Happy holidays everyone!
Contest results for week 15 are now available. fballfrk and sparkl39 posted the best record in the Pick 'Em Contest. Pat_Smith and bmarkham are fighting it out for the overall lead (2 weeks dropped). opa and SFink posted the highest score in the Swim Contest. kebkb1 is battling adman_attack for the season lead (again, 2 weeks dropped). jbryant4 is leading the Survivor Contest with S$7,814,900.
The Pick 'Em, Swim and Survivor Contests are ready. If you have any questions about these contests please update the Contests Are Ready topic in the Main Tank. Good Luck.
The story of the week was the loss heard ‘round the world, or at least our football world. To me, this means more than just one loss; it could mean the Colts’ season.
So many good games, with so many different angles to have available this week! We had the Texans winning, the Colts losing, and Detroit fans doing the inexcusable...

Final Week – This is THE week to break your bookie. We’re back in the saddle and riding high again.Easily won 2 or 3 last week, and I look for a HUGE final week as there are MANY teams that will not be bringing their A game this week.
Happy New Year! This brings about the end of the Fantasy Football portion of your programming. The Virgin will be around for some playoff and prognostication.
Here we are, the last week of the regular season. It wasn't easy picking 3 "games to watch" when so many games have so little impact on the playoff races, but hey - we're dedicated to finding the hidden gems in every week's schedule, so read 'em and watch.
The Seadog Report Doug Gaskell, Fantasy Football Staff Writer Dec 30, 2005
Well, it’s Week #17 and as much as I hate to make picks for the final week of the regular season, I know that many leagues are still going. So, I’ll give it a shot this week and try to focus on some good match-ups.
NOTE: Above you will find the player projections by division/team. For a listing by position, use the Player Projections blue tab above. Also, don't forget to try out our Interactive Projections Tool as well as your personalized FantasySharks Lineup Coach TM

Here's an updated list of who is in the playoffs and who to avoid: AFC: Colts, Bengals, Patriots, Jaguars & Broncos; NFC: Giants, Bears, & Seahawks. BUT, the Patriots, Bengals and Giants could improve their seeding with a win (and some help). Players from those teams can help you in a pinch.
The following teams will be battling to get in the playoffs and should be the best options for this week (depending on matchup): AFC: Steelers & Chiefs; NFC: Cowboys, Redskins, Panthers, & Bucs.
Merry Christmas to everyone. I hope you got to watch some football over the weekend, but most importantly I hope you were able to spend some time with your families.
