The Prognosticator - Week 13
Tony Holm, "The Prognosticator"
Nov 26, 2008 |
 |
 |
The Chargers are struggling to put anything together and it points back to the offensive line and a secondary that is leaking yardage. With Antonio Gates out in a pattern, the line needs to handle all the pass blocking and the guys that surround Phillip Rivers in the backfield just aren't as good as the guys that were there last year. The Chargers have lost some talent over the last year or two that they havnen't been able to make up for. Don't look for a lot of points from your Chargers though they'll do well enough up top to warrant a look at Antonio Gates. Not that you'd have him benched of course.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. May the joy you receive from your second helping of pumpkin pie only be surpassed by the mountain of fantasy points your team scores on this glorious holiday weekend. These next two weeks will determine the playoff teams in most leagues. Don't over-think the matchups. Remember, your studs brought you this far. Let them take you the rest of the way. |

Games to Watch - Week 13
Chris Dolfi and Tom Braun, Fantasy Football Staff Writers
Nov 26, 2008 |

The guys serve up a Thanksgiving platter of NFL deliciousness with this week’s "Games to Watch". They manage to cook up a fine trio of match-ups you aren’t going to want to miss, using their own very special recipe. So stuff yourselves into that easy-chair, you turkeys, while the guys dish out everything you wanted to know about football; the added info on Black Friday gift ideas, tryptophan, and the Beverly Hillbillies is just gravy. |

The Sunday-through-Tuesday Waiver Argument
Joe Bungo, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Nov 26, 2008 |
 |
 |
| In this edition of the Commissioner’s Perspective, I want to delve into a controversial league setting that creates two completely different types of leagues depending on how it’s set. Yes my friends, today we’re going to argue about Sunday-through-Tuesday waivers. Why now when we’re soon heading into the fantasy playoffs and it’s a moot point for this year you ask? The reason is because Sunday-though-Tuesday waivers might be deciding who’s winning your leagues, and it’s never too early to think about next year. |

All four of my picks won last weekend (Cowboys, Steelers, Buccaneers and Bears) despite the tough home underdog schedule that it was.
Denver laid an egg at home to the Raiders, who like I said, kept Week 1 in mind. We are in Thanksgiving week, so if you are reading this article, you’re likely still alive at this late point in the season. Congrats so far, but you are only about three quarters of the way there. Lab Test: The Weather
Sean Vostinar, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Nov 25, 2008 |
 |
 |
|
I should have known better. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a young, inexperienced, career backup quarterback born in Arizona, who went against a good Pittsburgh defense, playing in the snow. I haven't had to think twice about starting T.J. Houshmandzadeh in my PPR leagues since his early season funk, even with Fitzpatrick under center, and there wasn't much made of the back issue that had Houshetc listed as probable. In this edition of the Stat Lab, we test the impact of the weather on fantasy performance. It turns out my instincts were right -- just a week late. |

On the Rise, On the Fall - Week 12
Nick Pagliuca, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Nov 24, 2008 |
 |
 |
Welcome
to Week 12 of “On the Rise, On the Fall.” Throughout the season, I will
discuss players whose stock is rising and others who are not having the
same luck. I will avoid naming the obvious studs – Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson, etc – and will keep to players whose performance was not as foreseeable.
If you read my playoff article a few days ago, you’ll know how I feel about Chad
down the stretch. He had his biggest day of the year Sunday and while
he won’t put up those numbers the rest of the way; he should put up
respectable ones. He faces the Rams, Bills, 49ers and Chiefs through
Week 16. Don’t worry about that game against the Bills either since
it’s not in Buffalo – it’s in Toronto... |

Fantasy News of the Week- 11/22
Eric Huber, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Nov 22, 2008 |
 |
 |
Is it time for fantasy owners to give up on Terrell Owens? What will the Packers game plan be down the stretch? Is Devin Hester even a threat to opposing defenses anymore? And what will the Giants rushing attack look like if it has to churn without Brandon Jacobs? Plus, find out the latest news surrounding Reggie Bush, Roddy White, and Brian Westbrook, get your IDP injury rundown and hear me Speak Out on the NFL fix I believe in!
Terrell Owens is a
typical confident wide receiver, and his past has brought many moments
that he and NFL fans would love to forget. According to the
Fort Worth Star Telegram
the Cowboys wide receiver is frustrated with his offensive numbers once
again and blames it on the style of offense his team is playing... |

The Prognosticator - Week 14
Tony Holm, "The Prognosticator"
Dec 4, 2008 |
 |
 |
The Cowboys are going to struggle in the wilds of Pittsburgh. With a
chance of snow showers forecast for three out of the next four days, it
will be cold and there may be light snow. That puts Dallas at a
distinct disadvantage right out of the chute. The injury to Marion
Barber doesn't help as that's what December and January is
all about, running the football. The Cowboys are good, they'll show
flashes but they won't be able to tie drives together and that will
hurt them.

| I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving holiday. There were plenty of blowouts on turkey day. It was great if you were the one racking up the points. Success in the playoffs can erase the bad breaks of a 7-6 season while struggles can reduce a 11-2 record to a meaningless afterthought. Studs are, in the words of the immortal Dennis Green, "who we thought they were", but there's always a matchup to exploit this time of the season. Choose your starters wisely, because you do not get a second chance this time of year.
Cotchery has had a couple quiet weeks after a solid game in New England
back in Week 11. With Favre expected to perform well this week comes
the expectations that Cotchery will benefit the most from Favre's
successes. Look for Cotchery to surpass the 100-yard receiving mark for
the second time this season in San Francisco. |

Week 15 Weather Report
Joe Bungo, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Dec 11, 2008 |
 |
 |
| If you’re still reading analysis articles on Fantasy Sharks, congratulations are in order since you’re probably in the thick of your league’s playoffs. But now isn’t the time to sit back and pat yourself on the back. It’s time to hunker down and pay attention to every little detail as there is no more room for even the slightest of errors. One detail often overlooked is weather conditions and how it will affect your players. Weather can be a big factor in games this time of year. So this week, we’ll take a look at the weather forecast for each game’s designated time slot (as of today) and how it should affect the teams’ passing, running, kicking and defensive games. |

The Prognosticator - Week 16
Tony Holm, "The Prognosticator"
Dec 18, 2008 |

In a game that will determine the number 1 seed in the NFC and home
field advantage throughout, it's a game not to be missed. This game
will be sloppy as the current forecast is 100% chance of their being
rain and mixed precipitation at game time. The Panthers will run the
ball but will struggle in the air as the Giants can really get some
pressure on the QB. Expect a lot of short dump off passes from Jake Delhomme and for the Panthers, this is where they can't compete...

The Colts, Eagles, Jets and Panthers all won last weekend in my four-game sweep of survivor selections. The Bengals win over the Redskins, who I urged you to stay away from, likely caused those who had no other choices or didn’t listen to be eliminated. There are just two weeks left in the regular season and the options are slimmer. Check out Week 16’s game-by-game analysis and continue your survivor run until the end … |

If you’re still reading analysis articles on Fantasy Sharks, congratulation is in order since you’re probably in the thick of your league’s playoffs or in the championship game. But now isn’t the time to sit back and pat yourself on the back. It’s time to hunker down and pay attention to every little detail as there is no more room for even the slightest of errors. One detail often overlooked is weather conditions and how it will affect your players. Weather can be a big factor in games this time of year. So this week, we’ll take a look at the weather forecast for each game’s designated time slot (as of Thursday, Dec. 18th) and how it should affect the teams’ passing, running, kicking, and defensive games

Congrats to those of you partaking in your championship game this week. It's been a long season and your decisions have brought you to the title game. Don't stray from your strategy that brought you this far. Pay close attention to your studs. You should feel comfortable starting all your studs this week, but next week will be a different story. The balance of playing the matchups against the "stud"-meter becomes tough this late in the season. When in doubt, ask the Tank. |

So this week, we’ll take a look at the weather forecast for each game’s designated time slot (as of 12/26) and how it should affect the teams’ passing, running, kicking and defensive games. The upgrades and downgrades need to be used on a relative scale. For example, if we upgrade the Rams’ offense because the game is indoors and slightly downgrade Denver’s passing game because of 15 mph winds, it doesn’t mean you should start Marc Bulger over Jay Cutler. That should be obvious. |
