2009 Third-Year Wide Receivers
Walter Collazo, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Jan 29, 2010 |
 |
 |
| During the preseason, we look at a number of factors when deciding on sleepers and breakout players. One of these is the wide receiver third year roll. This rule indicates that a wide receiver will excel in their third year in the NFL. We look at the wide receivers of 2009 in year three as well as the third-year wide receivers for 2010. |

Draft Day 2009 - Lessons Learned
Matt Wilson, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Jan 27, 2010 |

 |
| For more than two decades, fantasy football owners coveted running backs like gold. Stud runners composed the nucleus of most winning teams, and the acquisition of elite backs on draft day served as the driving force behind the most popular drafting strategies. In 2009, however, we witnessed what may have been the permanent devaluation of the running back position.. |

The Prognosticator - Wildcard Weekend

The Jets are coming in hot, the Bengals are coming in not. Yes the
Bengals are home and that will help but the real problem they have is
the lack of anyone to throw the ball to except for Chad Ochocinco.
We all know about Rivus by now and with Rivus on 85 all day long, the
Bengals crumble in a hurry. This is a terrible matchup for the Bengals.
Since Cedric Benson
is the only opportunity for the Bengals to move the ball in any
fashion, you play him but look for a one-and-done from the Bengals.

The Prognosticator - Division Weekend

This is a coin flip plain and simple. Sure the Colts are an almost
touchdown favorite but that's crazy talk in a game that the Ravens can
just as easily win. There are matchup problems for the Colts and this
will be a very difficult game for them with a few extra Peyton Manning interceptions sprinkled in. Ray Rice
will run hard and will run well and will that will compound the
difficulties for the Colts as their defense will tire against a very
physical Ravens team that can hurt you in the 4th quarter. That, and
the one guy that can do all the damage, Peyton Manning, is watching the game from the bench. If Joe Flacco
shows up, which I put at about 20%, the Colts could get steam rolled.
To me there's a 20% chance of that happening but that's a real chance.

Welcome
to the Division Round edition of the Brew Crew Corner. They say hindsight is
20/20. It is the perception of the significance and nature of events after they
have occurred. If you knew at your draft the information I am giving you today,
you would have had the greatest season ever... |

| And then there were two. Two teams that will end another football season two weeks from now. My prognostication was the worst it has ever been. I could not imagine the final two teams at all. |

This will be a fight, make no mistake about it. Thomas Jones, Shonn Greene and a stout Jets D vs. Peyton Manning
heads up. Trouble for the Colts creeps in because they don't have a
prayer of stopping the Jets rushing attack. They're built for speed, a
lot of it, they're one of the fastest D's on the circuit and that works
well against finesse teams but against a team like the Jets, which like
to pound it up the middle with two hulking angry runningbacks, behind
guys like Nick Mangold, Damien Woody, Alan Faneca, Brickshaw Ferguson
and Brandon Moore. It's a talented group that can run block for two very good runners and they will beat the Colts down on the ground. Braylon Edwards will drop his customary potential game winning or game changing pass and there's the Jets gameplan.

Welcome to the Conference
Championship edition of the Brew Crew Corner. It's now down to four teams.
In the NFC will we see Brett Favre do another “Pants on the Ground” dance or
will the Saints go marching into the Super Bowl? On the AFC side it's the rookies
- Mark Sanchez and Shonn Greene - who are holding the glass slipper. Will this
Cinderalla team beat Peyton Manning and the could-have-been perfect Colts? |

Super Bowl XLIV: Three Round Mock- First Glance
Walter Collazo, Fantasy Football Staff Writer

Welcome to the final
edition of the Brew Crew Corner for the 2009 football season. The stage is set
for the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts to battle it out for
Super Bowl glory. This is the first time since 1993 that both No. 1 seeds will
meet in the final round. For fans of other NFL teams, there is a consensus
neutral balance of how everyone feels about each team. Most will pick the
favorites to win - the Colts - while others will root for the story book season
of the New Orleans Saints who are seeking their first Super Bowl title. |

The best player on the field on Sunday will be Peyton Manning. There are some things you can't take away from a person and Peyton Manning
having the ability to take over a game, single-handedly, can't be taken
away. But here's the
rub that most everyone seems to be forgetting. The Saints, are going to
play like dogs. Dirty, filthy, rabid dogs.
