The Prognosticator - Week 13
Tony Holm, The Prognosticator
Dec 1, 2011 |
 |
 |
It's really anyone's game but the scales tip the Vikings way a hair due to their run stop D being better, the fact that Christian Ponder can actually throw a football from the quarterback position, unlike the Broncos, and the Vikings have those nutty Viking horns cheering them on in front of their own crowd. But even with all that said, and the advantages the Vikings will enjoy, the Vikings are playing against Tim Tebow, the most magical mythical creature on this planet and when you're playing against unicorns and fairy dust, anything can happen.

Against the Odds - Week 14 (regular edition)
Vinnie, Caribbean Affiliate
Dec 11, 2011 |
 |
 |
| Underestimating what the Cleveland Browns run defense would be capable of, playing for a national television audience Thursday night, Vinnie fell several points shy of getting his early pick to pan out. Of course, Pittsburgh losing a pair of its better linemen in the early going didn’t help either. Time to focus on Sunday’s games, though. Vinnie really likes the line on two games in particular, both of which feature a team that exceeded expectations in Week 13. |

| Hopefully your fantasy team was able to survive last week with stars like Greg Jennings and DeMarco Murray getting injured. Late season injuries are always tough on your fantasy squad, but they also present opportunity for owners who squirreled away the likes of Felix Jones and Donald Driver to reap the benefits. There are some very strong plays this week to help you advance in your league as the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and Washington Redskins pile up big yards in the air while the Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals get it done on the ground. |

| It’s Week 16. Crunch time. Remember what got your fantasy team to this point. Don’t over-think your decisions. If you have Jordy Nelson, play him. Do not worry about Green Bay resting players this week. The NFC East will be plentiful with passing yards while the Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers will lead the way on the ground. Good luck this week and Happy Holidays! |

| For the first time in a while, nothing significant happened this past week to a major player affecting the fantasy world, so nothing in the way of new depth chart movement to discuss. A quartet of wide outs that are owned in around 50% of on-line leagues are discussed, as well as a sprinkling of players from other positions. Something for everyone this week. |

| The Giants have let many down this season, as they fell to the Redskins at home, which was their third loss at home to a team with a losing record. The Bengals were able to pull away from the Rams while the Cardinals squeaked one out against the Browns. Just two weeks remain in the regular season. Keep an eye on teams that may rest their players in Week 17. Check out the Week 16 game-by-game breakdown. |

The NFL is the most watched sport in America and during these days of 50 percent this way and 50 percent that way in this country, it is a breath of fresh air to have an event like the Super Bowl. |

| Welcome to the Super Bowl edition of the Brew Crew Corner. It has been an exciting season, and it’s even better when your team is playing in the Super Bowl. One thing fantasy football leagues lack is a Pro Bowl game. Since fantasy leagues don't have a Pro Bowl, I simulate a game each year to showcase the best fantasy players. Could you imagine if you had all these players on your roster? Records would fall. |

The Prognosticator - Superbowl Edition
Tony Holm, The Prognosticator

My heart is in this one. I know it's not fashionable to be a Patriots fan, I get the "hate the good team" philosophy, I'm a root for the underdog kind of guy too but for me, I'm in New England, I've lived here a long time, I like many of the teams in the NFL, but I'm a Patriots fan and I'm not ashamed. I still have night sweats over the 1985 Tony Eason led Patriots. I have a number of devastating sports moments that I've witnessed, I'm sure you all have too with your respective home teams whether it be NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL or whatever sports you follow. The 2007 Superbowl against the Giants and "that catch" to spoil a perfect season is at the top of the list.

| It’s Week 17 of the 2011 season, and while that means that most IDP leagues had their championship games a week ago in some leagues one game remains, and that game will determine the league champion. So, as we head down this road for the final time this year here’s a look at some players you should give serious consideration to getting into your lineups or who could outperform expectations (Studs) and some that, for whatever reason, you may want to consider leaving alone, or at least take into account that they may be a relative disappointment this week.
