Most running backs will go early in your draft. Most owners will overpay based on last year’s data. What happens this year is unwritten, and that gives us speculators hope.

Audibles looks at upside at the running back position later in most drafts.

Linebackers are to Individual Defensive Players (IDP) leagues what running backs are to “standard” fantasy football leagues; the cornerstones of building a championship-caliber roster, and they usually dominate the early individual defensive player selections. Choose wisely, and find that diamond in the rough a bit later in your draft, and it can give you the edge that will propel you to a title. However, choose poorly, reach for a linebacker that falls flat on game day, and you could be left holding your junk as other teams make a run at the fantasy playoffs.

Players that play hurt, or have low points per game for a full 16 games, are not players that are going to help me win.

You can never have too many pieces of data for your fantasy draft, but it is important to use each correctly and not overanalyze. The strength of schedule analysis is a tool that can be quite valuable if used properly. You should not solely base your draft on a player’s strength of schedule and bypass a much better player due solely to schedule strength, especially when you consider these numbers are based on last season and things change from year-to-year. I doubt you would want to pass on Aaron Rodgers because he faces the third toughest schedule against the pass this season. But utilizing strength of schedule certainly has its use. You did this last year, drafted Joe Mauer in Round 1 and Aaron Hill in Round 4, and you’re doing it again this year, drafting Carlos Gonzalez in Round 1 and Rickie Weeks in Round 4. Different year, but it’s the same story. Mauer hit his peak in 2009 and then some. Hill did the same, and both were drafted last year as if they’d do it again. They didn’t, and you can expect the same old song-and-dance about guys like Gonzalez, Weeks, Jose Bautista and Alex Rios in 2011.

Although you probably remember 2009 as the “Year of the Quarterback,” National Football League passers dazzled us once again in 2010, compiling historically proficient and prolific fantasy numbers. How dominant have NFL passing attacks become? Which quarterbacks amassed the most fantasy points? Which passers surprised fantasy owners? Which signal-callers disappointed? In his newest edition of “In The Spotlight,” Matt Wilson takes a look back at 2010 fantasy football season starting with the quarterbacks.

I project four quarterbacks to be taken in the first round of fantasy drafts in 2011. The one thing owners must not do is draft Michael Vick in the first round next season. Here’s why.

If you are one of the unlucky ones that are stuck on the outside looking in, seek solace in the fact that next season is a clean slate. Whether you made it to the big dance or not, you always need to do your homework and look towards where you could be drafting next season and at what players might be available. With so many great players at each position, how will you make up your mind about who to take early next season? Can stat lines overinflate value and give cause for a let down in 2011? You bet! So join me as I take a look at a few early-round player comparisons and who I’d roll with next season.

For some owners it’s time to cancel the “NFL Redzone” package and shut down the stat tracker for the 2010 season. The close of Week 13 also means the close to almost half of all fantasy football players’ seasons. Come inside and let's compare what little we know about some of the 2010 rookies versus the little bit more we know about some of the second year players from 2009.

Keep these eight simple steps in mind when deciding your keepers and you can’t go wrong. Be the one owner in the league that sees everything. Know how to place value on players and win long term. I’ve developed a theory so intensely accurate that if Albert Einstein were to see it he’d need a new pair of Dockers. Totally dyNASTY- The Keeper Shakedown.
