2009 Strength of Schedule

Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers for their Super Bowl win. The Steelers went all the way despite having the league’s toughest schedule. The matchups for 2009 have been released with dates to become available later in the year.

Let us look at the results of the 2008 season and how teams did against the Strength of Schedule in 2008.

The results show that nine of the 10 teams with 10+ wins this season had overcame the strength of schedule. The 10 teams that had an easier strength of schedule did not end the season well. Only the Chargers, Falcons and Panthers made the playoffs. The Lions who finished the season with an 0-16 record was facing the 24th easiest schedule to start the season.
