2010 Free Agent Watch - QB

| More

Welcome to the offseason edition of the Brew Crew Corner. I never stop keeping up with football, and if you’re looking to dominate your league, you should stay current with all that is happening. Every year the league has players change team either through trades or by singing of free agents. With 2010 being an uncapped year starting on March 5, it will be interesting to see where players go. We will first take a look at the free agent quarterbacks that will be available this offseason.

This is not a glamorous list. I think if you see any major moves at the quarterback position it will have to come through the draft or a blockbuster trade. I expect the Broncos to hold on to Kyle Orton as the free agent market does not offer much upside over him. With Mike Shanahan now in Washington, we will see if they stick by Jason Campbell. The Redskins could still draft a quarterback with their No. 4 pick, but that they have other needs on the offensive line that need to be addressed. Matt Moore in Carolina is a situation to watch as John Fox has been given another year to run the team, but having Jake Delhomme start is a risky decision.

Teams that truly need a quarterback, such as St. Louis, Buffalo and Oakland, will be the ones to watch during draft day. There are other teams that could also make a move such as Cleveland and Arizona. With just a few teams set at the quarterback position, there is going to be plenty of shuffling and deals cut between now and April 23 - the NFL Draft.

From the remaining names, expect them to move from team to team to compete for a backup role. Not much in terms of fantasy value unless they landed on a team that saw the starter go down.

Next article we will look at free agent running backs. Thanks for reading.
