Vinnie spacer
Against the Odds (2009) - Week 11

| More

Now remember, Vinnie typically rates his picks with somewhere between one and three stars. Quirky that the same week he bumps expectations up with his first four-star pick of 2009, Vinnie went ahead and settled on another four-star pick. But that's how Against the Odds sometimes goes.

Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens (+1): It's plain as day, whether it's the miraculous fourth-quarter comeback against Miami or the amazing showdown against New England last week that comes to mind, that the Colts aren't losing until some team plays out of its mind against 'em. Now Baltimore can certainly be an unwelcome host for visiting teams, but ... no spread, check that, a negligible spread for this game? Vinnie doesn't get that at all. The Ravens pass defense is average - as in Peyton Manning is about to eat you for breakfast, average. Furthermore, Haloti Ngata and Terrell Suggs, two of the more pivotal players among the Ravens front seven, are unlikely to play. And if Baltimore struggled to generate much offense and score points against the Browns on Monday night, are we to expect impressive performances from Joe Flacco and/or Ray Rice against the Colts? (and that's probably what it would require of the Ravens, in order to keep up with the Colts). Vinnie thinks not.

Gimme the Colts minus the point.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs (+10): Keep in mind that Vinnie has Pittsburgh near the pinnacle of his power rankings and that the already lackluster Chiefs will be without the services of Dwayne Bowe, and it's understandable how easy it is for Vinnie to give K.C. all those points. Having just suffered a gut wrenching loss to the hated Bengals, Pittsburgh is looking to get back on track right away and will bring the pain in a way you don't want to miss, in that, can't look away when passing by a horrific accident, sort of way). Big game in store for Ben Roethlisberger, here. Ditto for Rashard Mendenhall. But it's the Steelers defense Vinnie is most excited about. Poor Matt Cassel won't have much of a chance to get anything going - at least not until garbage time, that is.

Gimme the Steelers minus the points.
