The very first Fantasy Sharks Writers' draft is finished, finito, fertig gestellt. The grade A shark writers have taken some time to analyze the results, have thrown their daggers and long stem roses at their enemies, and have drooled more than a St. Bernard over their own fantasy valuables.
If you're looking for any kind of preview --- The Prognosticator calls Dez Bryant stupid with a five year old twist, within his Department of Defense Mr. Sheiner believes he has the 2012 version of Justin Forsett , and the Betbot is caught aimlessly BZZTing about Rita Hayworth. Everything in between you'll have to read for yourself.

Who was your favorite draft pick from your own team? Why?
RB gets thin in a hurry in 2012 and even though I reached for BenJarvus Green-Ellis in Round 7 a little, he'll be put to the test in
Who was your least favorite draft pick from your own team? Why?
Stupid Dez Bryant. Once again I fall for the "promise of the athlete" and hoping his maturity level has raised trap. One of these days, Bryant could be one of the top receivers in this league. It sounds like this may not be his day. Which team did the best job of drafting for value? Explain.
With no offense to my fellow Sharks, three teams stood out to me. In no particular order, I really like what Doug Coutts did (Waiver Wire Wonders) opening with LeSean McCoy and pairing him with Matt Forte. Cha-ching in a PPR league. Holding out till the 7th to get Matt Ryan looks great. Cutler a couple rounds later and depth all well done. Which team had the best first five rounds? Explain. As I mentioned, I think Doug Coutts (Waiver Wire Wonders) opened very well. Greg Kellogg too I thought had a good first 5 picks opening RB-RB-RB and then polishing off with Mike Wallace and Dwayne Bowe. For my tastes though, I think Doug Coutts knocked it out of the box with his first 5.

Which team had the best first five rounds? Explain.
Without a doubt it was Doug Coutts and his Waiver Wire Wonders. He ended up with LeSean McCoy at number two overall, scooped up Matt Forte in round two, and then plucked Victor Cruz on the turn. Doug continued to build his stellar starting lineup with the additions of Marques Colston and the forgotten runner, Michael Turner.
Who was your favorite draft pick from your own team? Why?
I was really pleased with the selection of Doug Baldwin in the tenth round. He has been working with Matt Flynn a lot this offseason, and is perhaps the Seahawks' best wide receiver, Sidney Rice is old news.
As a fourth wideout he was my standout grab.
Would you be happy with this team in a real life draft? Explain.
Yes. What I believe I did was prove that you don't have to land a running back in the first round to have a successful draft --- that's an old school "smash mouth" outdated philosophy anyways. Reggie Bush and Steven Jackson were solid values where I selected them, and Toby Gerhart and Ronnie Hillman have tremendous upside. Jermichael Finley in the sixth round was huge, especially after seeing where the top two just ahead of him in my rankings ended up going off the board.
If you had to choose a new draft position to select from, which one would it be? The number three spot. Since there is an overwhelming amount of Brett Favre-like hatred towards selecting a quarterback early on amongst some fantasy writers I would be interested to see if Rodgers would drop to me in the second round to go alongside Arian Foster and a top receiver in round three. But I only say that because I now know some of the tendencies and passionate feelings of my opponents.
Doug Coutts - Waiver Wire Wonders
Who was your favorite draft pick from your own team? Why? QB Jay Cutler (Chi) - After missing out on the top QBs, it made sense to wait it out. Ninth round selection of Jay Cutler will pay big dividends. Coming off injury, he's flying under the radar so far this year, the Bears know they need to keep him healthy so look for more short drops and quick throws. Cutler will end up the season as one of the top 10 fantasy QBs.
Who was your least favorite draft pick from your own team? Why? RB Jason Snelling (Atl) - The selection was made strictly as a backup to Michael Turner, and these things rarely work out. Snelling isn't even the clear #2, and though the pick was made late in the draft, I feel like adding a second defense to my team would have been a better option so that I could play matchups based on the week.
If you could draft again from the same position, what would you do differently? If I could do it again, I would wait longer on TE. Not disappointed in who I ended up with, but after selecting Davis at 6.11, Pettigrew went 7.11, then the next TEs (Davis and Gonzalez) weren't selected until the ninth round. I feel that even Celek at 11.08 would have been serviceable.
Would you be happy with this team in a real life draft? Explain. Yes, pleased with the team. Ryan or Cutler at QB with a dark horse Bradford should anything go wrong; McCoy and Forte as RBs with Turner in the mix; Colston, Crabtree and a slew of upside WRs to help at that position; Vernon Davis at TE. Strong group of starters will win a lot of games.
