Games to Watch

Hello fellow Sharks!

From now until Week 17, we’ll be giving our insight as to which games are the games to watch each week. This is a heavy burden, as we know a lot of you have Sunday Ticket, too much free time, and an addiction to premium brews like Natty Lite or Yuengling. A lot of you know us from our other articles, the Betbot, or the Last Row, or our myriad posts in the Tank. We’re just like you, though. We love a good football game, no matter who’s playing.

Here we go with our Week One picks!!

Oakland @ New England:

What can we say? It’s the first game of the year, with two exciting AFC teams. Oakland has revamped its team with some signings on offense and some departures on defense. We’re excited to see Kerry Collins with a team almost as exciting as the Penn State team that won the Rose Bowl. Randy Moss and Lamont Jordan alone make this Oakland team a fantasy goldmine. They go up against the worthy champs, the New England Patriots. The Pats are a team that seems to reinvent themselves every year. They make shrewd signings, and hold onto the players that suit their system. Don’t let anyone in the media or the Shark Tank fool you – the Pats are a team of stars. Brady, Dillon, Branch, Bruschi (hopefully back next year) , Harrison…etc. These are very good players. Sit back, ignore the pre-game hype and watch an exciting
game between two teams that can score (but only one team can defend).

Philadelphia @ Atlanta:  OK, you know us, we’re Eagles fans. We’ll try not to be biased towards them as we go forward. This is a rematch of the NFC Championship Game, however…Except it’s in September, in a dome and without the below zero wind chills, and it doesn’t mean nearly as much to either team. Don’t get us wrong, it means a lot; but it’s not an elimination game. The Falcons’ fans get loud and get rowdy, expect a House of Pain type setting for the Eagles here, with a raucous Hotlanta crowd. We even think the Dirty Birds may beat the Better Birds here, even with an inferior QB. In the long run, the Eagles are better, but an emotional Falcons team may beat the Eagles and give hope to other NFC teams for a week.

Dallas @ San Diego: We were tempted to go BALT/IND here, but then we realized that would involve Kyle Boller. For the time being, we’ll hold off on recommending any game involving  Boller. San Diego was a playoff team last year, and if they had a decent gameplan versus the Jets, they would have played the Pats in the AFC Championship Game. Unfortunately, they are coached by Marty Schottenheimer, so they failed in the post season. Even without

Antonio Gates, the Chargers are a better team than the Cowboys. The Cowboys are, however, a good defensive team. With a  new 3-4 Defense, the Boys should prove to be a challenge for the run happy Chargers. As long as the Chargers run straight ahead, the Cowboys win. Throw a couple wrinkles in,a dn the you Cowboys defense loses. We’ll see what Brees is made of this game; he needs to find a receiver not named Antonio Gates. It will be very interesting to see how he, and Marty Schottenheimer react to this situation. On the Dallas side, look for how Dallas protects the slow, but big armed Drew Bledsoe. The Chargers will be targeting Julius Jones, if Parcells can let Bledsoe make a couple big plays, the Cowboys win, and may end week one on top of the NFC East. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Until next week, keep watchin’, eatin’ and drinkin’. We’ll keep judgin’ .
