Fantasy Football Memorabilia

Michael Sarmento spacer
Losing is a part of the game folks...

Audibles

The regular season comes to a close. My season came to an end as well this week. It's funny how you can dominate your league (13-2), draw the No. 4 seed and lose. It goes to show you that luck plays the largest factor in the playoffs. I attribute my loss to a couple of my studs not playing, and my waiver wire pickups under performing my projections.

My team had all the makeup of a championship-caliber team but, as they say, "it wasn't to be." Aside from the third-to-last pick next year, I can still trade a few players and make a nice run next year.

Now I can concentrate on the things that really matter like getting my boat ready for fishing this year, taking inventory of my tackle and servicing my reels. I also plan on registering for fantasy fishing with FLW outdoors. You pick 10 anglers a week for a shot at 100k weekly prize.

As for football, I can now watch the game for pure enjoyment without fantasy implications. My thought is that the Baltimore Ravens are going to be mighty tough to beat. I see them as the best defense in the league paired with a legitimate rushing threat.

I also like the Titans who have a very similar skill set. One of these two will be there in the end with monster defenses.

Although Indianapolis doesn't have the same kind of defensive clout, I do like watching Peyton Manning running his troops down the field with urgency.

I think Indy will be a tough team to beat as well.

I expect to watch plenty of bowl games and the College Senior Bowl. I will then start my preparation for the NFL draft, gathering as much data as I can get on the players I have been watching. The influx of talent into the NFL is never ending.

I will enjoy tracking offseason moves and watching the draft. The hiatus from fantasy football will allow me to get my derriere off the couch and out to my favorite lakes and reservoirs in search of a 12-pound bass.

I can also tune my mountain bike up and hit the trails. This may allow me to break the 250-lb plateau finally.

Upset of the week:

I am taking the Miami Dolphins +2.5 over the New York Jets.

I expect that the Dolphins defense will have a nice afternoon as will the versatile running attack.

Chad Pennington will shine here with his game management skills utilizing both his TEs, Davone Bess and Ted Ginn, Jr.

Brett Favre will force one too many balls with intense pressure breathing down his neck.

Dolphins 27, Jets 24.
