I know what you’re thinking - Calvin Johnson is on the cover of Madden 13. He is doomed to have a bad year, either from injury or just poor production. Wrong. My friend, Johnson is going to dominate just like he did last year. This man is a beast. The best part of all, he has a young quarterback and he’s only 26. Matthew Stafford and Johnson are going to have a long, successful career of throw and catch, and this is coming from a Chicago Bears fan.
Last year, Johnson dominated and was the best wide receiver by far with 96 receptions, 1,681 yards and 16 touchdowns. That’s amazing. You need to go out and draft this guy in the first round of your draft. Madden cover or not, he is a hard worker and is not going the let the “fat” contract he got go to his head. This guy wants to win and wants to win big. Super Bowl big. I know it’s early, but I am going to say that he matches his catch and touchdown total, and maybe his yardage total.
If you’re not a believer of the Madden Curse, you’re probably scared of drafting him because all of the options there are for Stafford. Wrong again. No one compares to this man. I’m not just talking on the Detroit Lions, but in the entire NFL. This is Stafford’s guy. Most teams have a goal line running back. Well, Johnson is the goal line wide receiver. He’s the only goal line wide receiver because he is that good. Why did Stafford throw for more than 5,000 yards last year? Because of Johnson. Don’t be worried about the crowded receiving corps. Johnson commands the ball, and he will do so this year. They are going to get him the ball.
When it’s your turn to draft and you have the fourth pick, or even the first pick, go with Johnson. You will not be disappointed. You need a sure thing wide receiver to bank on all year round. Johnson is that guy.
