Kevin Smith, RB, Detroit Lions : First of all, temper your expectations since we are talking about a Lion running back. However, this rookie, who looked like he lost the job to Rudi Johnson, has looked the best in the Detroit backfield. He is better in the passing game and has had respectable numbers the past three weeks. For a guy who looked like he could be hitting the waiver wire with another potential bad performance after the bye, he has turned into something somewhat valuable.

Deuce McAllister & Pierre Thomas, RBs, New Orleans Saints : This is pretty obvious with Reggie Bush out for about 3-6 weeks. The Saints have San Diego in London this week and then have a bye. However, in Weeks 10 and 11, they face Atlanta and Kansas City. Even though byes will be coming to an end, they could be good flex or RB2 plays. Check out the distribution this week against the Chargers and that should help you judge who is start-worthy after the bye.
