Survivor - Week 2

For those who have been reading for the last few years, my golden rule is to avoid the road teams, especially early in the season when you have more options. I also do not like to take divisional games if I can avoid them. However, it is understood that you may not have a choice some weeks. It is also more difficult now as some survivor pools make you pick two teams down the stretch of the season to thin out the field.

Week 2 tends to be over-reaction week in the NFL. Do not fall into the trap. Stick with the safer teams early on in the season until you know more about the unpredictable ones.

Let's get into the action for Week 2:

Thursday Night

Jets @ Patriots - I would avoid the Patriots game with all of the injuries and it is a divisional battle. Wait until New England is fully healthy and running on all cylinders later in the season.

Sunday & Monday Games

Top 2 Picks:

Eagles – Facing the Chargers at home (who come from the West coast for the early start)

Texans – It is a divisional game and Tennessee did win in Week 1, but I believe it was because Pittsburgh is going to be that bad this year.

Risky Pick:

Raiders – These are both bad football teams. I am not trusting Oakland this early in the season. Jacksonville may be bad and they proved that last week, but how confident can you be in the Raiders? Both of these teams should play down to each other's level and it will be an awful game. Chad Henne will also start for the Jaguars, which is an upgrade from Gabbert. I also never trust Maurice Jones-Drew since he has the ability to take over the game with a few long runs.

Avoid:

Saints – Yes, the Bucs lost on the road to the Jets. However, the Saints are not the same team on the road and this is a divisional game. I would expect Doug Martin to run well against New Orleans and while I still think the Saints should win this game, I am not willing to risk it. They will be a better option during the season when in the Superdome.

Lions – I would avoid Detroit away from home.

Good luck in Week 2!
