There are plenty of big favorites in Week 7, but which of those teams is the most vulnerable to an upset? Check out my breakdown to help make your choice this weekend!
For those who have been reading for the last few years, my golden rule is to avoid the road teams, especially early in the season when you have more options. I also do not like to take divisional games if I can avoid them. However, it is understood that you may not have a choice some weeks to follow those rules. It is also more difficult now as some survivor pools make you pick two teams down the stretch of the season to thin out the field.
It was a rough Week 6 with the Houston Texans as the recommended selection, but hopefully you went with the other two teams I ranked ahead of them (Denver or Seattle) or even Kansas City, who was on the list. Everything seems to be going wrong for Houston as the Texans have now lost four straight. They could have lost Week 1 and 2 as well, but were able to manage late comebacks.
Let’s get into the action for Week 7:
Seattle at Arizona – I would almost always avoid the Thursday night game if I could.
Sunday and Monday Games
San Diego at Jacksonville – You have to consider every team that plays against Jacksonville. While Jacksonville held its own against Denver last week, don’t let that fool you into believing this team is anything more than their 0-6 record shows.
Houston at Kansas City – Kansas City is a possibility and Houston is in a downward spiral. I would probably hold off on this game, though, as Kansas City is bound to have an off game at some point.
St. Louis at Carolina – I like Carolina as an option this week coming off a big road win in Minnesota.
Buffalo at Miami – I have a hard time picking these types of divisional games, even with Miami opening up as a 6.5 point favorite and now climbing to an 8.5 point spread.
Cleveland at Green Bay – Green Bay is all banged up and I like what Cleveland has done over the last month, but the Packers should have enough to hold them off at home.
Tampa Bay at Atlanta – I would have a hard time trusting Atlanta with Julio Jones . Now, they are without their best offensive playmaker and Steven Jackson may or may not be back this week. Despite coming off the bye, I am going to have to pass on the Falcons this week in this divisional matchup.
Out of these games for Week 7, I would lean towards Green Bay. I also like Carolina as my second option.
Good luck in Week 7!
