And then there were two. Two teams that will end another football season two weeks from now. My prognostication was the worst it has ever been. I could not imagine the final two teams at all. In a year of NFL haves and NFL have nots, three of the haves were in the final four. The longest undefeated teams came out on top - which makes the most sense - but it never is supposed to make sense. Next week I will break down the final game of the year. So let us recap the day that was.
The
Final Score: Colts 30, Jets 17
This was a tale of two games within the game. The Jets came out right away and established a grind-it-out defense. And then something weird happened. With less than two minutes to go in the half, the Colts scored in two plays. That spark led to a Jets’ 17-13 halftime lead. Those 17 points would be all the Jets would get the rest of the way as a stifling Colts defense took over.
The Jets appear to have a bright future.
The
Final Score: Saints 31, Vikings 28 (overtime)
In a game of back and forth and forth and back, this game had it all. The overwhelming offense of the Vikings that would give the ball away once too many ended up being the difference.
The
Hey. It is fitting that the last two teams with undefeated records in the regular season make it to the final game. The only part that would have been better is if they were still undefeated. But in the era of resting up for the playoffs, each team did a little bit of that and they still made it to the big game. So who will win in
