Great White Game of the Week - Indianapolis at New England

Thursday, September 9th @ 9:00 pm ET on ABC

The NFL’s annual revenge game kicks off the 2004 season in typical fashion as these two teams begin the campaign for advantage come playoff time. For the Colts, it’s about payback as well as playoffs. The Patriots handled them easily in the 2003 AFC Championship game. Edgerinn James may be playing for a big payoff, rumored as he is to be looking fondly south towards home in Miami. The Patriots are eager to show off their new toy, Corey Dillon. They improved their defense during the off-season, which is scary.

Shark Sighting- Lenny Kravitz is an interesting choice as one of the stars for opening night festivities. Maybe he’s out to put in a good word for Ricky Williams.

Still a WhaleShark of a game - Seattle at New Orleans

Sunday, September 12th @ 1:00 pm ET on FOX

Seattle starts the season as one of the favorites to represent the NFC in Jacksonville for Super Bowl XXXIX. Odds are, they’ll have to go through the NFC south first, which is exactly what the NFL schedule makers must have had in mind as they travel to New Orleans in week 1 and Tampa in week 2. New Orleans, a team always with the talent but often short on desire, knows they need to slow down the potent Seahawk offense but the Saints can score as well, and Seattle hopes Ray Rhodes’ D continues it’s improvement in 2003, going from worst to 14th in rushing D and 28th to 19th overall. Both teams need this W to get the season started right.

Shark Sighting - Whatever the over is, you have to like it in this game.

Chumming the Waters - Tennessee at Miami - New Back, No Back

Sunday, September 12th @ 1:00 pm on CBS

This is normally a marquee match up between what has been two of the elite teams in the AFC. Everyone knows the AFC East is home to some of the best rushing defenses, and the Titans need to establish the running game early, which they’ll look to do with new starter Chris Brown. Miami, who downgraded their defense with Chidi Ahanotu taking over for Adewale Ogunleye, is still trying to recover from the surprise retirement of Ricky Williams. This game will be a testament to how adaptive the Fish will be sans Ricky. If they can’t get their own ground attack dialed in, they may be forced to rely on the passing game. This could prove to be the start of a long and frustrating season.

Shark Sighting - Expect the Dolphins front office to get really aggressive after this game for a running back.
