These figures are broken down by team stats, position stats and individual stats. Since this column is about the wideout attack, it will tilt towards the wide receiver position while providing some insight into the other skilled positions as well. To understand the breakdown of individual stats, first I broke down the number of games where a player actually stepped onto the field and actually lined up on offense sometime throughout the game. Meaning if a player was in the game for 4 plays and had 0 targets then they were credited with a game played. If a player lined up in the first series, had 2 targets, was injured and left the game without returning then he was credited with a game played. If a player was dressed but never actually lined up throughout the game, then he was not credited with a game played. The individual stats were then applied to position and team stats. By breaking down game logs versus season stats this will give some clarity on who throws the ball where, how much a team spreads the ball around or not and who is targeted more frequently. These lists should help you break down some of your rankings or projections to see where there could be over and under value.
The first list breaks down the percentage that each team position was targeted to show the passing distribution. It includes the red zone target percentage for the wide receivers based on red zone attempts. It also includes a teams percentage of pass plays and attempts per game. At the bottom of each category is an average pertaining to this list to see who is above and below.
