What is the true definition of a Fantasy Virgin? Welcome to my world and you will see. The draft is over and the Fantasy Football season is upon us. Oh, by the way, the NFL season begins with a Thursday battle featuring New Orleans at “…the champion Colts of Balti-err I ndianapolis!” That was done in my best Howard Cosell. Howard loved the Champion Baltimore Colts and Joh---Nee YOU-Nite-isss! Now they are the champion Indianapolis Colts. This entirely means that you have to get your lineups in early this week. No fretting about picking out your team at noon on a Sunday. And this is the first week of the NFL season Fantasy Virgins. Let me talk about the week that was. That would be the Draft.

Picking Fourth – Off The Hook Style

So I have the fourth pick in the draft. Yay! The first three go down and those are no-brainers. But why did I have to be 4^th? You see, 4^th is the step off point between Larry Johnson and Frank Gore. Larry Johnson has a lot of question marks coming into this year. Not because of his ability but because of the new offensive line in front of him. Just ask Edgerrin James about this and you will understand the year that could happen. But, there are unknowns about everyone. So my draft proceeds and I get Ronnie Brown in the 2^nd round. Since we are a snake draft it takes awhile to get back to me. When it does I have two RBs who are #1 on game day. Then comes the third RB…or maybe an upper tier WR.

To T.O. Or Not To T.O. That Is The Question

Our draft is a snake draft. This means that even though you pick 1-12… it only comes back 12-1. So do you get what I am saying? I had the 4^th pick of the draft this year! That means I go 4^th and then watch 15 picks go by and then get the 19^th followed by the 26^th pick only to watch another 15 go by. It is awful to see so many good players go. But those are the rules and that is the way the Fantasy Football cookie crumbles. So for my 26^th pick, I could get Deuce M. from the Saints… or I get T.O. So will it be T.O. or not T.O. To answer your question, I took T.O. and my draft went downhill. But that is my choice. It ended up alright but it was just a wee bit scary. Now that you and I have a team. What to next? Go to the site tools is what you have to do next my friend.

Waiting For The New Season To Begin

It is that time of year again and I cannot mention it enough. A Canadian High in New England presages the winter yet to come. You think it never will happen but it has happened every year since I have been keeping track. That would be at least 1982 my friends. You see, the days get short and the sky becomes this color of blue unlike all summer. You have to be an inhabitant of New England to appreciate this nonsense but it happens nonetheless. It even happens amidst the backdrop of global warming Mr Gore. Even now, this last weekend has seen 50 degree evenings with low-ish humidity. The result is a postcard right out of Fall Occasions in a picture by Norman Rockwell. That is why we live in New England, United States and the rest of the world. That is why we endure our 6 month winters and our 2 months of 95 degree days from Bermuda highs. It’s these “in-between” days. And until the third week of October or so, they will only improve from now on. Maybe we live for these “in-between” days that fall between Spring and Summer and subsequently Summer and Fall. Come what may be it hurricane or rain, we will always have our foliage and pumpkin pie. You will not be able to get a rental car in a month because the “leafers” are coming. That is why we love this area … and it is to begin yet again.

May this be your most successful year yet. Let the games begin --- Season 2007-2008.
