The Diary of a Fantasy Virgin - Week 10

| More

You know what kind of week I am talking about?  Yes you do.  It’s the one about how you go on a weekend vacation and most of your team has a bye week but you have a backup starter, or so you thought.  Then you are walking through a certain bar area on a boardwalk back from a great day of food, folks, and fun on Sunday only to hear about how Carolina is competing well against Tampa even though they are missing their running back.  Humm, that’s strange you think … and then it rushes from the back of your brain to the front of your head…One of my starting running backs is the running back for Carolina!  ARRRrrrrGGggHHh!

Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Before I begin, thank you Hard10 for reading being a fan of the Virgin articles as noted in Rob's interview this week.  Read it here at this site.  Your appreciation keeps me writing.  Even when I can't seem to win anymore.  But that is fantasy football and sometimes it gets sad.  The saddest part of all is that when two of your RBs are on the bye week, there is no room to wiggle.  They are on the permanent bench that week.  And then it goes from bad to worse when one of your key starters is out or someplace in-between like labeled as questionable.  The questionability on November 7th became a no-go decision on the morning of November 9th.  So where was I between these three days?  I was at the Food & Wine Festival in Epcot!  I was so far from a PC that it just didn’t matter.  To make matters even worse, I probably wouldn’t have been able to do much because Sunday was when I got to the new Mission Space ride.  The ride divides the old from the young.  Since I am somewhere in between, I just seemed to shake a little when I got off it.  But there have been horror stories of older adults and those weak of inner ear not functioning right for 24-48 hours after the ride.  Needless to say it is a great ride and an awesome experience.  A nice cold drink at the Rose & Crown pub with a serenade from Pam Brody was in order after that.  For those of you getting there soon, take in a nice late afternoon of fish & chips and let Pam know she is missed and appreciated.  That seems just about the perfect place to be when you are stuck between a rock and a hard place.  Since waivers were long over and I had no place to put anyone, a back up was way out of capability.  So it seems that a little suspension of disbelief will stabilize any mental vessel…because our fantasy vessel is listing bad.  Lets see what Artemis has to say this week.

Captain’s Log – 11-09-2003 – 11:00 PM – by Artemis

The Captain was tied up at a festival this week, so the lineup is all mine.  I think that the Captain is not going to be to pleased because not only did several key people abandon ship for their own shore leave once they saw the Captain go, but key personnel came up lame as well.  The only guy who stuck it out with some valor was the boatswain and that was ‘cause he gets paid for the fix and with us leakin’ so much, he was thinkin’ he’s gonna be a proper gentleman by the time he sets afoot at our destination.  I am not much for a writin’ and things have only gotten worse since I scribbled those rune letters out a few weeks back for the captain.  I think I have to get me a Voodoo person to bless this forsaken vessel.

Master D.
