The Hive - Week 15 Playoff Edition

The Hive – Week 15 Playoff Edition!

Welcome back to The Hive everyone! Time is a-wastin’, so we will get right to the games this week!

Giddyup! – STUD!

SINS! – Solid If Not Respectable

Hellno! – even Chiefs fans understand this one!

-NO THURSDAY GAME COVERAGE-

Cincinnati @ San Francisco Saturday 5:15pm PST

Cincy

Giddyup! – Landon Johnson

SINS! – Jonathan Joseph, Geathers/Smith, Leon Hall

Hellno! – Madieu Williams (GTD)

SF

Giddyup! – Nate Clements, Pat Willis, Michael Lewis, Walt Harris

SINS! – Marques Douglas

Hellno! – Brandon Moore

Game notes: This one should be a real slaughter, but maybe the Niners defense can keep them in the game. Their IDP’s will certainly keep you in your game, as the Bengals give up a lot of points to DB’s, and Pat Willis will smash anything in his path. For the Bungles the CB’s are good bets for INT’s this week, but the pathetic Niners passing game will not present enough tackle opportunities to be truly studly starts.

Seattle @ Carolina Sunday 10am PST

Seattle

Giddyup! – Marcus Trufant, Lofa Tatupu, Pat Kerney

SINS! – Julian Peterson, Darryl Tapp, Deon Grant

Hellno! – Brian Russell

Carolina

Giddyup! – Jon Beason, Chris Harris, Richard Marshall

SINS! – Chris Gamble, Julius Peppers

Hellno! – Mike Rucker

Game notes – My only concern with your Seahawks studs is that the Seattle defense may spend a lot of time resting on the sideline. I highly doubt the inept Panthers offense is suddenly going to blossom in week 15. For the Panthers start any Carolina DB with confidence, as Hass and the Seattle WR’s are en fuego.

Buffalo @ Cleveland Sunday 10am PST

Buffalo

Giddyup! – Terrance McGee, Angelo Crowell

SINS! – Aaron Schobel, John Digiorgio

Hellno! – Keith Ellison

Cleveland

Giddyup! – D’Qwell Jackson, Sean Jones, Leigh Bodden

SINS! – Leon Williams, Brodney Pool

Hellno! – Orpheous Roye

Game notes- This one could be a lot more of a snooze-fest than is currently predicted, depending on what kind of havoc the weather plays. Check the forecast in the morning, if snow and wind is on the horizon downgrade the DB’s and upgrade the LB’s here.

Green Bay @ St. Louis Sunday 10am PST

GB

Giddyup! – Nick Barnett, Aaron Kampman

SINS! – Charles Woodson, AJ Hawk

Hellno! – Cullen Jenkins

STL

Giddyup! – Will Witherspoon, OJ Atogwe

SINS! – Ronald Bartell, James Hall

Hellno! – Tye Hill

Game notes – Blowout! Move on!

Baltimore @ Miami Sunday 10am PST

Baltimore

Giddyup! – Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs

SINS! – Dawan Landry. Bart Scott

Hellno! – Ed Reed

Miami

Giddyup! – Jason Allen, Jason Taylor

SINS! – I don’t know the names of any other remaining Dolphins players.

Hellno! – Channing Crowder

Games notes – Does ANYONE care AT ALL about this game? No? Just checking.

Tennessee @ Kansas City Sunday 10am PST

Tennessee

Giddyup! – Kyle Vanden Bosch

SINS! – Nick Harper, David Thornton

Hellno! – Keith Bulluck

KC

Giddyup! – Jared Allen, Donnie Edwards

SINS! – Bernard Pollard, Derrick Johnson, Napoleon Harris, Tamba Hali

Hellno! – Ty Law

Game notes- Tennessee still has a lot to play for, so I expect an inspired effort on the road from them. Albert Haynesworth is back, and with his return Keith Bulluck’s numbers are in the toilet. For the Chiefs I would expect solid numbers from the LB crew, and Jared Allen is a good bet for solid tackle numbers as well as the ever-present potential for a sack or two.

Jacksonville @ Pittsburgh Sunday 10am PST

Jax

Giddyup! – Justin Durant, Daryl Smith

SINS! – Rashean Mathis

Hellno! – Reggie Nelson

Pittsburgh

Giddyup! – Farrior/Harrison

SINS! – Ike Taylor

Hellno! – Anthony Smith

Game notes- The Steelers will be looking to bounce back from last week, while the Jags will look to continue their steady march to the post season. Not too much IDP goodness to be enjoyed here, though I do think the LB’s for both teams will perform well. And Anthony Smith is officially a disappointment, I really thought he would do more with his starting opportunity than just run his mouth and put up 3 tackle games.

New York Jets @ New England Sunday 10am PST

NYJ

Giddyup! – Kerry Rhodes, David Harris

SINS! – Darrelle Revis

Hellno! – Eric Barton

NE

Giddyup! – none

SINS! – Ellis Hobbs, Asante Samuel, Ty Warren, Adalius Thomas

Hellno! – Junior Seau, Mike Vrabel, Tedi Bruschi

Game notes – Another week, another blowout for New England. This wont be pretty, and the Jets only chance of not losing by 40 is if there is a blizzard. Then they only lose by 31.

Arizona @ New Orleans Sunday 10am PST

AZ

Giddyup! – Karlos Dansby

SINS! – Calvin Pace, Rod Hood, Antrel Rolle

Hellno! – no one you would normally consider starting

NO

Giddyup! – Will Smith, Charles Grant

SINS! – Roman Harper

Hellno! – Josh Bullucks (GTD)

Game notes – This game is all about the offense, not the D. Not too many IDP starts here, but Dansby and the Saints DE’s look great.

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay Sunday 10am PST

ATL

Giddyup! – Michael Boley

SINS! – Keith Brooking, Chris Houston

Hellno! – John Abraham

TB

Giddyup! – Jermaine Phillips

SINS! – Bucs DL’s, Barrett Ruud, Ronde Barber

Hellno! – Cato June

Game notes – The Jets must feel good about dumping John Abraham when they did. He has fallen off, plain and simple. Just another slap in the face for a franchise in turmoil. It will be interesting to see if the Falcons players can muster up anything to back up their claims that Petrino held them back. The Bucs are still looking solid for the playoffs, and this should be an easy victory at home for them.

Indianapolis @ Oakland Sunday 1:05pm PST

Indy

Giddyup! – Robert Mathis, Bob Sanders, Gary Brackett

SINS! – Marlin Jackson

Hellno! – no one you would normally consider

Oakland

Giddyup! – Kirk Morrison

SINS! – Thomas Howard, Michael Huff

Hellno! – Eugene/Schweigart, Raiders DL’s

Game notes – What is bad news in general for the Raiders is great news for Kirk Morrison and his IDP owners: the Raiders face Joseph Addai, Fred Taylor/MJD and LT to finish the season. Tackles galore for the stud MLB, losses galore for the team as a whole.

Philadelphia @ Dallas Sunday 1:15pm PST

Philly

Giddyup! – Trent Cole

SINS! – Omar Gaither, Takeo Spikes, Brian Dawkins

Hellno! – Howard/Kearse

Dallas

Giddyup! – Terrance Newman, Demarcus Ware

SINS! – Bradie James, Roy Williams

Hellno! – Greg Ellis

Game notes – The Donovan McNabb audition for a 2008 job continues. I don’t care what the FO says, I think McNabb is gone this offseason. As far as this game goes, I think Trent Cole is really the only Eagle you cant sit, and I recommend the up and down Demarcus Ware this week, as I think he will get to McNabb at least once.

Detroit @ San Diego Sunday 1:15pm PST

DET

Giddyup! – Ernie Sims

SINS! – Paris Lenon, Fernando Bryant

Hellno! – Gerald Alexander

SD

Giddyup! – Merriman/Phillips, Antonio Cromartie

SINS! – Wilhelm/Cooper, McCree/Hart

Hellno! – Eric Weddle

Game notes – Ernie Sims vs LT could sway a lot of fantasy playoff games this week. Sims is a must start. The Chargers bring two of the IDP’s with the highest upside and the greatest potential for a zero in the game today with Merriman and Cromartie. I would start both this week if you are a gambling type, but don’t come crying to me on Monday if they don’t light it up. Starting either of those guys is like starting Lee Evans on your fantasy team at WR, you should know its either 2 points or 25 going into it.

Washington @ New York Giants Sunday 5:15pm PST

WAS

Giddyup! – London Fletcher, Rocky McIntosh, LaRon Landry

SINS! – Andre Carter, Shawn Springs

Hellno! – Pierson Prioleau

NYG

Giddyup! – Osi/Strahan, Antonio Pierce

SINS! – Kawicka Mitchell

Hellno! – Gibril Wilson (inj)

Game notes – Washington will be fighting for their playoff lives, and the Giants will be trying to eliminate their divisional rivals. Should be a good one. Too bad Gibril Wilson is still down for the Giants, he would have been a great start against Todd Collins, who is filling in for the injured Jason Campbell. I like the Skins LB’s and DB’s and the Giants DL’s here.

Chicago @ Minnesota Monday 5:30pm PST

Chicago

Giddyup! – Charles Tillman, Lance Briggs

SINS! – Brian Urlacher, Brandon McGowan

Hellno! – Nathan Vasher

Minny

Giddyup! – EJ Henderson, Antoine Winfield

SINS! – Chad Greenway, Ced Griffin

Hellno! – Vikings DL’s

Game notes – Amazing that the Vikes are in the thick of the playoff hunt. With all that young talent on offense that should really terrify the rest of the NFC. This team could be a real force in coming years. For now they will just have to be happy with dismantling the once proud Bears defense on national TV.

That about wraps it up for week 15, good luck to all of you in your playoff matchups this week!
