The Seadog Report

Greetings Sharkfans, welcome to the latest installment of the Seadog Report! Things are moving and shaking in the wonderful world of IDPs. Okay, I admit, I’ve cut loose some of the guys I’ve been talking up – DL R Geathers CIN is not on my roster anymore, LB Peter Sirmon TEN has been cut, and DL M Tubbs SEA is gone. I can’t afford to carry these guys in a couple of leagues because I don’t have enough space on my bench. I hate it when that happens.

This past week’s Top Dawgs

DL Kyle Vanden Bosch TEN This guy has got a motor that just won’t quit.  4 tackles, 1 assist, 3 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery for a TD.

LB Andra Davis CLE 12 tackles, 7 assists, and 1 pass-defensed – Davis is certainly capable of monster performances and this was one of those weeks.

DB Deltha O’Neal CIN and DB Troy Polamalu PIT O’Neal had  7 tackles, 2 assist, 5 pass-defensed, 3 ints  while Polamalu had 6 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 pass-defensed.

Outstanding performances by both this week.

Seadog’s picks of the week

DL Rocky Bernard SEA vs. Arizona Bernard has put up 2 tackles and a sack in both games so far. Arizona has been giving up points to the opposing DTs, so go with Bernard this week.

DL Derrick Burgess OAK vs. Philadelphia Burgess had a good week last week and this week he goes up against his former team. He should be at his best for this one.

New Orlean’s DLs vs. Minnesota The Vikes have looked awful at the start of this year. Look for New Orlean’s defensive linemen – the strength of their defense - to produce on Sunday.

DB DeAngelo Hall vs. Buffalo I don’t know if J.P. Losman will throw towards Hall, but I think he will have to in this game. Hall will win that battle.

Philadelphia’s DBs vs. Oakland Collins is going to want/need to throw in this contest. Moss and Porter will be very active. Play your Philly DBs this week.

DB Antrel Rolle vs. Seattle The Seahawks will try to exploit the rookie this week, so he should be pretty busy.

LB Kirk Morrison vs. Philadelphia This one goes out to Sharktank member SJSwarm, who has made me a believer of this kid. If you don’t have him on your roster and he’s available – grab him now!

LB Mike Vrabel vs. Pittsburgh This is a tough one. Vrabel has been making some plays lately and I think he’ll be a little more fired up this week going against his former team.

Denver LBs vs. Kansas City The Bronco linebackers will be busy tackling Priest and Larry this week, not to mention having to cover Gonzo.

Well, that wraps up this segment of the Seadog Report. Now I’d like to introduce a new feature that we are going to bring you this year. As you may or may not know, a twelve team IDP-only league has been started this year in the Sharktank. We call it “The Wall”. It is comprised of some IDP veterans as well as some IDP “newbies”. Regardless as to IDP background, these guys all know their way around fantasy football and are showing it in this league. We’d like for you to follow along with us this year to perhaps glean some insight into the wonderful world of IDPs (plus, it will give you a good chance to make fun of yours truly)

The Wall Report (week#2)

Before we get into the week#2 wrap-up, I need to mention one of the teams. Gballs1 went into the draft claiming to be new to an IDP-only league. He puts together his team, even drafting a CB with a blown-out knee at one point, and now look at him – 2 wins; 345 points in 2 weeks - He’s a powerhouse! And he even claims he can’t get into our league website to run his team. I don’t know, I think we’ve been sandbagged.

Lt1800 (177.5) vs. CleffedUp (132.5) LB Andra Davis CLE was the difference in this contest as lt1800’s team had a solid all-around showing. A very respectable score for Cleffed, but the points left on the Bench (Henderson, Quarles, Umenyiora) really hurt this week.

Gballs1 (181.5 high score of the week) vs. Dgack (157) Team Gballs is just showing steady and consistent scoring throughout his starting line-up. His LB corps (Edwards, Nguyen, Pierce) is just plain solid. Dgack would have won most weeks with that score. His safeties (Roman, Lewis) and his DP (Marshall) couldn’t keep pace this week.

Decktard (127) vs. Johnnyballgame (102) Zach Thomas was Decktard’s star of the game, while JBG had some really disappointing scores from Kerney, Brown, and Pollack.

Seadog (153.5) vs. Panachevitz (100.5) Berry, Spikes, Vilma, and newly acquired Kirk Morrison carried Team Seadog this week. Danny Clark and Marcus Washington were the standouts for the Panachevitz team.

SoCalIrishSports (136) vs. SJSwarm (139) This was the closest game of the week. Little, Lewis, and Winfield pushed SJSwarm to victory while Mike Peterson’s effort for SoCal’s team came up a little short.

And finally,

The Hussy Bus (113.5) vs. Paddler (146.5) Cornelius Griffin had a big game for the Hussy Bus, but Paddler was able to ride Derrick Johnson and Mike Brown to a solid victory.

That’s it for this week – thanks for reading!
