The Seadog Report

| More

Greetings Sharkfans, welcome to the latest installment of the Seadog Report! It’s time to kick things off for the 2006 NFL season. The beginning of the season is always hard to pick for match ups, so I’m throwing out some of my own weekly picks to you this week. I’ve got four IDP leagues that I’m involved in and I’ll be playing each of these players in one or more of them. Here we go!

Seadog’s picks of the week

DL Luis Castillo SD vs. Oakland I don’t think Oakland’s offensive line is that strong at the moment. Merriman is going to get the focus, but I think Castillo and Igor Olshansky are going to get their share this year.

DL Richard Seymour NE vs. Buffalo The Pats are going to be giving some 4-3 look to their 3-4 defense, and I think Seymour will take advantage of it. He’s been somewhat injured this preseason, but I think he’s due for some big plays this year. Going against Buffalo is a good match up this week.

DL Mike Patterson PHI vs. Houston The Philly defensive line should have their way with Houston’s offensive line this week. Patterson may not be a “lights out” play this week, but I think it’s a solid choice especially if you need to play a DT position.

LB Demorrio Williams ATL vs. Carolina I still can’t believe this guy isn’t a full-time starter this year. Hartwell is out for this first week and Williams is taking his spot. This should be a great match up.

LB Antonio Pierce NYG vs. Indianapolis I’ve been touting Pierce a lot this preseason. It’s time to put my money where my mouth is. I don’t think this is necessarily the best match up of the week, but I’m going with Pierce no matter what.

LB Andra Davis CLE vs. New Orleans Davis is a big time LB and New Orleans is in rebuilding mode. Davis should dominate this match up this week.

LB Derrick Johnson KC vs. Cincinnati Johnson was a highly touted rookie, but his fanfare has been relatively quiet this preseason. I think Johnson is a huge talent and he is primed for a big season this year. I don’t plan on sitting him much.

LB Bart Scott BAL vs. Tampa Bay Scott is going to be playing in the shadow of Ray Lewis this week, but based on how he performed last year, he should be a pretty decent play this week.

DB Sean Taylor WAS vs. Minnesota Taylor showed a flash of his potential at the end of last season. I think he’s primed for a breakout year. I’m playing him with confidence this week.

DB Darrent Williams DEN vs. St. Louis I’m playing Williams on one of my teams because he also returns punts, but I think this should be a good match up anyways. The Ram’s WRs will be testing the young Denver CBs. Williams should be pretty active this week.

DB Antrel Rolle ARI vs. San Francisco I’m planning on playing Rolle a lot this season. This may not be the greatest match up of the week, but I’m not sitting Rolle until I have to.

Well, that wraps up this segment of the Seadog Report. Hopefully it will be helpful to you as we kick off another exciting season. Thanks for reading!
