Greetings Sharkfans, welcome to the latest installment of the Seadog Report! Before I get into my match ups this week, I’d like to throw a shout out to “The Hive” – Gary Chamberlain’s weekly IDP article that is now appearing on Fantasyshark’s this year. If your reading this, chances are that you’ve been reading his articles as well, but if not, and you are in an IDP league than “The Hive” is a must read every week. I pull out some weekly match ups that I like each week with this article, but Gary takes the time to do a game by game rundown from an IDP perspective. It is extremely informative as well as entertaining. I encourage everybody to check it out. Okay, I’m done with my public service announcement – on to my picks for this week.

Seadog’s picks of the week

DL Julius Peppers CAR vs. Cleveland Yeah, I know, Peppers is an every week guy, but if you have to choose between him and someone else, he should definitely get the nod this week. Cleveland hasn’t done a great job of protecting the QB this year and Peppers has returned to his studly form – this is a good match-up.

DL Darrion Scott MIN vs. Detroit Darrion who? Scott is coming off a pretty good week last week (6T, 3A, and 0.5 sack) and I’m betting he continues with another decent performance this week. DT Kevin Williams is also getting back into form and would be a good play as well.

DL Jason Taylor MIA vs. New England This is a “going against the grain” pick this week. New England has a strong offensive line and Brady doesn’t get sacked much. However, Taylor always plays a tough game against the Pats. I’d stay away from the other Dolphin DLs, but stick with Taylor as he should get his due.

Chicago DLs vs. Buffalo Play your Bears this week as they should do well against Buffalo’s O-line.

LB EJ Henderson MIN vs. Detroit No, I don’t think Minny’s IDPs will wreak havoc against the Lions, but I do think that Henderson is putting together some solid numbers right now. He’d probably be a good WW pick-up this week if he’s available.

LB Manny Lawson SF vs. Oakland If you’ve been waiting to play Lawson, this might be a good week to do it. The rookie is due for some sacks and against the anemic Raider offense, this might be his best shot.

LB Scott Shanle NO vs. Tampa Bay Here’s another guy that might be available on waivers that would be a decent bye week filler. Shanle has been putting up about 4 tackles and a sack the last couple of weeks. I’ll take that consistency as a bye week play anyday.

LB Derrick Johnson KC vs. Arizona Don’t sit Johnson this week – he’s just starting to get cranked up. I really like this match-up. A sack, a pick, and 7 or 8 tackles seems about right.

DB Ed Reed BAL vs. Denver I’m a huge Reed fan, but he has been a major IDP disappointment the last year or so. This should be a good match up for him this week as Jake the snake will most likely make some mistakes against this tough Baltimore defense. I hate to say it, but if he doesn’t produce this week, then I think it’s time to put him on the shelf.

DB Roman Harper NO vs. Tampa Bay This young rookie has been a very steady producer this season. He doesn’t put up the gaudy Adrian Wilson numbers, but he has been consistent. I’ll take that consistency any day.

DB Corey Chavous STL vs. Green Bay Have you noticed that Chavous’ numbers seem to get better each week? I think that with a groggy Brett Favre playing against an old ball hawk like Chavous, could make for a good match-up. This could be a boon or bust pick, but if you feel like gambling a little, I’d go for it.

Well, that wraps up this week’s Seadog Report. Remember, always play Ray and Rodney! Thanks for reading!
