Wow, what a difference a week makes! At this time last week we were talking about how poorly Tom Brady and Jake Plummer played during week 1. This week the pair joined Kerry Collins as the only QBs to throw for 3 touchdowns. Unfortunately for Jake the Snake, he was voted out of the competition while receiving over 80% of your votes. Tom Brady continues on and with his strong play this week remains very much alive.
Here is the current status of the contestant pool:
Drew Bledsoe Tom Brady Drew Brees Aaron Brooks Kerry Collins Daunte Culpepper Brett Favre Rich Gannon Jeff Garcia Trent Green Matt Hasselbeck Kelly Holcomb Tommy Maddox Peyton Manning Donovan McNabb Steve McNair
Let’s get right to the nominations for this week:
Rich Gannon (Oakland) – Expectations are high for the defending AFC champs this season, but their start has been less than exhilarating. Rich struggled this week passing for only 103 Yds and 0 Touchdowns for only 5 fantasy points. His lack of performance puts him firmly in the nomination seat in week 2.
Trent Green (Kansas City) – Trent also gets a nomination this week because the KC passing offense took a back seat to the touchdown machine Priest Holmes. Not having a top flight WR and having a struggling TE in Tony Gonzalez doesn’t help either. Trent passed for only 125 Yds with 1 TD for 12 fantasy points. Trent loses the tiebreaker with Steve McNair and is added to the nomination list for week 2.
Kurt Warner (St. Louis) – Kurt not only came out of week 1 with a concussion (or maybe it was just a bad headache) but it appears he may now have lost the starting job to backup Marc Bulger. Marc looked good in an overtime win over the Niners, and coach Martz feels that Bulger gives his team a better chance for a win. Not getting on the field will not get you any fantasy points so Kurt is up for a bonus nomination this week.
You can help decide, place your vote now for who will join Jake on the waiver wire. Who will be the Ultimate Fantasy Quarterback! |
