Vinnie – Superbowl Edition
Made it back from Vegas, a couple hundred dollars richer. Nope, didn’t ‘break-even’ like most of the suckers that pay the electric bill for all the Vegas neon lights. Talked to my contacts out there, and learned a bit about the SuperBowl line.
The Big Game First, the Superbowl line before the Indy / Pitt game was AFC -9. Now, the line is Pittsburgh -4. No WAY do the bookies want to get middled on the Superbowl. Otherwise, the real line should be, at best, Pittsburgh -2.5. But, they know there will be more public money on Pittsburgh, and the numbers, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 would be big losers for them. Therefore, I am predicting a Steelers Blowout, or the Seahawks cover.
The Vegas sportsbooks are in business to make a profit, that means that if the Steelers cover, they must win by >9 to avoid a ‘middle’. I expect a very close Superbowl, with a last minute kick deciding the game. Take Seattle plus the points here for 2 stars. The SeaPigeons may not win, but they should at least cover. Just a two star game, as some of the props are much more profitable. Seattle +4 **
Some MORE profitable props
1) Total Number of Seahawks to score Over/Under (3). Over -135. Reasoning: Shawn Alexander, Josh Brown, One WR, and you at least have a push.
2) Antwaan Randle El – Total Receiving Yards, Over/Under 32. Over 32 -115 Reasoning: Number two receiver for Steelers will get some looks.
3) Hines Ward – Total Receptions Over/Under 4.5, Over 4.5 -160 Reasoning: Number one option for Steelers passing attack.
4) Mack Strong – Longest Rush from scrimmage Over/Under 2.5. No attempt, under wins. Under 2.5 -115 Reasoning: Steelers string defensive tackles will stuff the middle.
5) Will either team score in last two minutes of first Half. Yes -230 Reasoning: Indoors, two good field goal kickers at worst. Aggressive coaches.
In Conclusion So, Vinnie ended the year on another positive note, two winning seasons in a row. Make sure to visit www.fantasysharks.com next year, to read about Vinnie’s (mis)adventures.
Soon, Vinnie’s will be graduating to white collar, corporate-type deals from his unprofessional type ventures. Gotta meet a competing family boss in Chicago tomorrow, setting up the biggest deal of my life. Hopefully, will be able to merge my East coast operation with his West coast operation, peacefully.
Mickey knows, never bet against Vinnie J
Final 2006 Record ** 11-7 *** 10-6 ***** 4-4
