Week 13 - Survivor Pools

| More

It does not appear like anyone wants to get knocked out of these pools right now. The favorites continue to win, but I am expecting the big upset to come anytime now. Don’t get cute this time of the year. If you have quality teams, use ‘em.

On to the games …

Jets @ Bills – avoid this AFC East battle. It’s another bad game for Thursday night football - seems like they never get any good ones.

Buccaneers @ Panthers – Carolina put up a pathetic performance last week against the Jets and rumors are once again swirling about Jake Delhomme. Stay away from this one, and I’d probably pick the Bucs in an upset since Josh Freeman has them playing better.

Rams @ Bears – a few weeks ago, it looked like Chicago could be an option in Week 13. Not anymore thanks to the play of Jay Cutler. The Rams have also fought hard recently, thanks to Steven Jackson. Bears win, but look elsewhere.

Titans @ Colts – well, if they win this week, they’ll make me a believer that they can get into the playoffs after starting 0-6. However, I’ve got to believe that it will haunt them at some time or later. The Colts hand V.Y. his first loss this season. Too risky for survivor though, and you probably don’t have Indianapolis at this stage of the game.

Eagles @ Falcons – have to like the Eagles since the Falcons could be without Matt Ryan and Michael Turner. But I’m not betting on the road team. Birds win … Eagles, that is.

Raiders @ Steelers – Steelers cruise, big time, 27-10.

Lions @ Bengals – Cincinnati doesn’t seem to beat anyone by a wide margin, except for the Bears game. They’re your choice of Week 13 since you should have saved them for this one. The Bengals deserve a primetime game and maybe they’ll be flexed (Sunday Night Football) in San Diego in Week 15.

Saints @ Redskins – that is two straight tough road losses for the ‘Skins in the NFC East. They’re home and getting some respect now for playing hard, but the Saints are leaving the same way they came marching in – undefeated.

Patriots @ Dolphins – not the week to use either one of these teams. Pats rebound in Miami.

Texans @ Jaguars – that crazy AFC South. Toughest games to predict the ones between the three teams in the South not named the Colts. I’ll guess that Houston gets back to .500 with a victory.

Broncos @ Chiefs – are the Broncos back? Or are the Giants that bad? I think Big Blue is a lot of the reason why Denver picked up a win on Thanksgiving, but I’ll give them some credit. Broncos need this one in Arrowhead, but it won’t be easy. Expect a Bronco win by a field goal.

Chargers @ Browns – if you have San Diego, ride the hot streak. Top pick this week.

49ers @ Seahawks – I would usually pick Seattle at home, but I’m going with the ‘Niners on the road.

Cowboys @ Giants – the Giants are toast. Cowboys win, even though I do not think they are that good. The Giants can’t figure anything out right now.

Vikings @ Cardinals – interesting game on SNF between some old quarterbacks (if Kurt Warner plays). ‘Vikes by 10.

Ravens @ Packers – toss up. I’ll go with Baltimore who will prove to be too physical against the Packers who have had a ton of rest.

Wrap-up: easy selections are the Chargers, Steelers and Bengals. Hopefully you have San Diego or Cincinnati at this point, but if not, take a shot with the Bears. It’s dangerous, but the schedule is not pleasant this week. I’d rather take a chance with a home team than go out on a limb with the Eagles or Patriots, especially against that Wildcat.
