This past week we had a vote between Ahman Green and Tiki Barber. Ahman has struggled to be consistent all year, while Tiki started off strong and led the stats list for all runningbacks for a good portion of the season. But your votes are what counts in this competition and with 75% of the vote, Ahman Green has been eliminated. In recent weeks the player to be eliminated would usually have a very good fantasy output the very next time he played. Not this week however as Green would have been put up for nomination again if he was still alive.
TJ Duckett we hardly knew you. He had been getting a few carries per game and scoring the occasional touchdown. Then came week 14 where he rushed for 65 YDs and 4 TDs to lead all runningbacks in scoring. Unfortunately for Duckett owners, he needed to have his knee scoped on Monday and will miss 2-3 weeks. The Falcons are hopeful he will be ready for the playoffs. I actually played Duckett in week 14 as a replacement for Faulk/Jackson and came off looking like a genius, but it was all luck. Sometimes that happens in fantasy football.
Other than Duckett, there weren’t many other standout performances this past week. What caught my eye was the number of young backs that topped the stat sheet. Guys like Tatum Bell (123 YDs and 2 TDs), Willis McGahee (105 YDs and 2 TDs), Larry Johnson (104 YDs and 2 TDs), and Kevin Jones (156 YDs and 1 TD). Most of these guys were probably not drafted in your league, or at least drafted much later than Priest Holmes, Marshall Faulk, Travis Henry, and Stephen Davis. Who would you rather have heading into the playoffs right now?
Now onto the nominees for this week’s Ultimate Fantasy voting.
Current contestant list: Shaun Alexander Tiki Barber
Each week we’ll take the lowest fantasy producers based on the Fantasy Sharks scoring system and put them up for an elimination vote.
We are down to just 5 runningbacks remaining. All 5 had decent weeks but the 2 lowest scorers will be nominated. This week it is Tiki Barber and Corey Dillon.
Tiki struggled again as the Giants lost again. He rushed for 55 YDs on 19 carries and scored 1 TD and 9 fantasy points. Corey carried the ball 22 times for 88 YDs and a TD for 14 fantasy points. With Tiki dominating the stat sheet early in the season and Corey essentially being a model for consistency all year, it should be an interesting vote.
Who will be the next player eliminated from the competition, Corey Dillon or Tiki Barber? You can vote here. |
