Week 1 Games in Review
Denver 15 - Buffalo 14 Buffalo didn't generate much offense through the air, as Lee Evans had 2 catches for only 5 yards. Marshawn Lynch looked good though as he ran for 90 yards and a score. However, it was a somber Bills locker room as backup TE Kevin Everett had to be taken off the field on a stretcher, and went for emergency surgery Sunday afternoon. It is unknown if he will be able to walk again.
Titans 13 - Jaguars 10 The Jaguars rushing attack was simply not good. Jones-Drew and Taylor combined for less than 50 yards on the ground. The Jags may have cost themselves the game when Josh Scobee injured himself in the pregame warmups. He was able to kick a 22-yarder, but could not attempt a a 36 yarder in the 3rd quarter, which could have put the Jags up by 7.
Redskins 16 - Dolphins 13, OT Bad news for Ronnie Brown owners. He rushed 11 times for just 32 yards. He did have 6 receptions for 40 yards, but Jesse Chatman was receiving some of the goal-line carries. However, he could not punch it in, which may eventually lead to that being only Brown's job. Chatman was a rather large part of the offense with 6 catches for 48 yards and if he could have gotten that goal-line TD, he could have had an even better day. Chris Chambers racked up 92 receiving yards for Miami as well.
Panthers 27 - Rams 13 Meanwhile, Steven "Action" Jackson didn't quite live up to his #2 overall pick on Sunday. He rushed for only 58 yards and caught just one ball. However, that's not the worst of it. He coughed up the rock twice. Nevertheless, remember it is just Week 1. Do not panic. Marc Bulger only had 167 yards in the air, but his #1 WR had a decent day with 70 of those yards and a TD.
Patriots 38 - Jets 14 Chad Pennington got hurt in the 3rd quarter and hobbled off the field only to be boo'ed by the Jets fan. Terrible, classless act by the fans as Chad tried to be a warrior and walk it off. Anyway, the Jets are in trouble as they'll go to Baltimore next week and Clemens could be making the start for New York. That's Kellen Clemens, not Roger. Coles was the only bright spot for the Jets and he racked up 59 yards and both of the Jets TDs.
Vikings 24 - Falcons 3 Joey Harrington had 199 yards in the air and 2 picks, while Dunn carried most of the load with 22 carries, while Norwood just had 5. However, Dunn rushed for only 55 yards on the stout Vikes D.
Steelers 34 - Browns 7
Packers 16 - Eagles 13 Donovan McNabb threw one INT and one TD along with 184 yards. Westbrook totaled over 125 yards of offense. The Packers front seven were very solid in this game, which kept them in it since the offense didn't do much. Reggie Brown only had 1 catch for 14 yards. Avant scored the only TD for the Eagles in the game.
Texans 20 - Chiefs 3 The Chiefs offense looked as it was forecasted. Bad. LJ had just 10 carries for 43 yards, but caught 7 passes for 44 yards. Huard was picked twice in the loss.
Seahawks 20 - Bucs 6 The Caddy ran the ball for 60 yards on the ground, but left the game with a rib injury. Keep on eye on his status as he did not return. Galloway had 72 yards receiving, but his QB Garcia left the game as well. However, Garcia would return.
Chargers 14 - Bears 3 The Bears must be missing Thomas Jones since Benson and Peterson each fumbled the ball. Grossman was 12 for 23 with 145 yards and a pick. Berrian had 83 of those yards.
Lions 36 - Raiders 25 McCown threw for 313 yards and 2 scores in a losing effort. LaMont Jordan had a solid game with over 150 total yards of offense and a TD. The Raiders made this game close after they trailed 17-0 and would later take a 21-20 lead that they would surrender late in the 4th.
Sunday Night Football Speaking of exploding, Plaxico Burress had 3 touchdowns and 144 yards receiving in the loss. Speaking of loss, the Giants lost Brandon Jacobs to a knee injury, along with DE Osi Umenyiora. Eli Manning also left the game in the 4th quarter with a shoulder injury. The severity of these injuries should be determined today when MRIs are taken. Initial reports show Jacobs will be out for 3-5 weeks with an MCL sprain. Derrick Ward came in for Jacobs and ran for 89 yards and had 27 receiving yards with a TD. However, he has not be officially named the starter while Jacobs is out. Droughns was not much of a factor in this game. Two Monday Night games tonight: Bengals host the Ravens & the 49ers host the Cardinals. Good luck tonight! Games start at 7pm EST. |
