Jerricho Cotchery WR New York Jets

OK, I'm a day late and a dollar short on this one. Crazy things happen in Week 1 and I overlooked his strong performance as an abberation. But with a monster 6 grab, 121 yard and a TD performance against the Pats this week, I'm ready to call this guy the real deal! He's getting lots of balls thrown his way and is a dangerous man after the catch. And having a guy with a name out of a Moby Dick story is just plain cool! If he's still around in your league, snag him! Go go Jerricho!

Desmond Clark TE Chicago Bears

Des Clark has been around a long time and hasn't really done much in Fantasy circles since 2001. But with the Bears weaning Rex Grossman into the offense with frequent short passes to the tight end, Clark is rocketing up the TE ranks. He caught 5 balls for the second straight week, this time for 85 yards and a TD. Who knows how long this will last, but his numbers to date are amongst the best at his position despite his unheralded draft slot. Don't sleep on this guy...he could be Clark Kent by the end of the year.

Marques Colston WR New Orleans Saints

Where did this guy come from? He was only a couple of picks from being 'Mr Irrelevant' in the NFL draft this past year, having played at Wayne Chrebet's 1-AA Hofstra squad. And we all know rookie WRs are terrible, right? Wrong! Colston has had more balls thrown his way than any other Saint, and he turned the chances into 4 catches for 58 yards and second-straight week with a TD. He's a big target...the new Antonio Gates for Drew Brees? Let's not go that far just yet, but by all means get this guy on your roster if you get the chance!

Solid Pickups

Bernard Berrian WR Chicago Bears

A Chicago Bear receiver in the waiver wire column? Geez, I don't think that's happened since the Marty Booker days! But alas, here's one this week! Berrian hit paydirt for the second straight week, matching up his TD with 5 receptions for 89 yards against the lonely Lions. He's rocket fast and as unproven as Rex Grossman is, he can certainly throw the deep ball. Look for Berrian to be a boom-or-bust player all season, but he's got some potential to put up some big numbers with the right matchup.

Alex Smith QB San Francisco 49ers

After playing more Alex P, Keaton last season, Smith seems to have turned the corner and is showing flashes of the player the Niners thought they were getting when they picked him #1 overall last year. He posted another solid game with 211 yards through the air and a TD against the Rams, following up on a 288 yard game vs Arizona. Not rock-solid defenses, but neither are the Eagles and Chiefs, the next two Niners matchups. He's not a guy you want to start every week, but if you're in trouble at QB now that the bye weeks have started, you could do worse.

Chris Henry WR Cincinnati Bengals

Anyone know the NFL record for most arrests during a single offseason? Seeing that Mo Clarett never played an NFL game, I think Henry's gotta be right up near the top. Or bottom, as you see it. But the man does have some talent and showed it this week with a huge 133 yard performance against the Browns last week. And with Chad Johnson and T.J CantSpellIt both hurtin', there might be more of the same against the Steelers and Pats the next couple of weeks. If you can hold you nose and roster this dirtball the next couple of weeks, your lack of moral fiber may rack you up some fantasy points!

Eric Moulds WR Houston Texans

Moulds had been a stud for many years, but has slipped off of the radar of many fantasy owners. You might want to remember this fella. The Texans look to be behind a lot this year, which means lots of throwing. If David Carr is able to thow from a horizontal position a bit more this Fall, look for Moulds to be the recepient of more than his share of these throws. Moulds racked up 59 yards through the air this week against the Colts, following up a 68 yard and a TD performance aganst the Eagles. With the Skins and Fins next on the schedule, Moulds makes a sneaky bye-week fill-in.

On the Radar

Samkon Gado RB Houston Texans

Gotta have Gado? Well, maybe not yet, but that day may be coming. The Texans are horrible and their running back situation has followed suit. But the Wali Lundy lovefest seemingly ended, and Ron Dayne being...well, Ron Dayne, it would seem that Samkon Gado has the chance to be the best of the bunch. And suprisingly enough, that might not be that bad. Gado isn't a huge talent, but he can be effective in the Kubiak Denver-style blocking scheme. While the Texans are still miles away from having Bronco rushing totals, Gado's a guy to keep your eye on in coming weeks. If you're in a bigger league or have a deadbeat hanging out on your roster, Gado may be a good stash down the line.

Ryan Moats RB Philadelphia Eagles

Moats is a poor-mans Brian Westbrook. But fortunately for him, Westbrook isn't exactly an ironman, nor is his backup Correll Buckhalter. Moats also has some good hands and he'd fill in admirably if (when?) Westbrook misses time this year. And since BW's dinged up already in Week 2, you can bet that Moats will have some value sometime this season. A nice pickup in deeper leagues.
