Week 9 - Survivor Pools

| More

We have surpassed the halfway point of the NFL season. Next weekend begins the Thursday night games, so keep note of that. However, let’s check out the games on tap in Week 9.

I will give my analysis on each game and pick a winner in that matchup. At the end of my analysis, I will select the best options for your survivor pool.

Washington @ Atlanta – The Falcons are an option this week home against the Redskins. Washington is simply not a good football team and the Falcons fought hard against the Saints in the dome on Monday night.

Arizona @ Chicago – I’d stay away from this one since the Cardinals have been up and down this season. I will pick the Bears to win this game at home, but would not trust them in survivor.

Baltimore @ Cincinnati – Avoid this one. Ravens look for revenge, though, and I like them on the road.

Houston @ Indianapolis – Colts look to keep the undefeated streak going, but divisional game keeps me away. Colts win.

Kansas City @ Jacksonville – Don’t touch this game with mediocre teams, but the Jaguars will come out on top. Don’t put too much stock in the Jaguar loss last weekend as those AFC South games between the trio of Houston, Jacksonville and Tennessee are always tough to pick.

Miami @ New England – New England should win at home, but the way Miami is playing lately, I’m staying away. I’ll pick the Patriots at home to win.

Green Bay @ Tampa Bay – The Packers will rebound this weekend, but always leery of the road teams.

Carolina @ New Orleans – Saints are always an option in the dome, but you saw how Atlanta played them on Monday Night Football, so don’t take a chance in a divisional game. These teams know each other well.

Detroit @ Seattle Seattle plays well at home with Matt Hasselbeck under center. While that was not the case against Arizona in Week 6, I still like them with the 12th man against Detroit. They’re a option this week.

San Diego @ New York Giants – Don’t touch the Giants right now. Their season is on the line at home against the Chargers. I’ll take Big Blue to win this one, but do not have much confidence in that.

Tennessee @ San Francisco San Francisco played a tight game with the Colts last weekend and I don’t expect the Titans to win two in a row after starting off 0-6. The 49ers win and they’re an option for your survivor pool.

Dallas @ Philadelphia – NFC East battle. Ill give the edge to the home team.

Pittsburgh @ Denver – This should be a tough, hard-fought Monday nighter. The Broncos are home underdogs and I always like them. Give me Denver at home.

Survivor Pool Options:

In this order:

Atlanta – Best team in this group and they’re home.

Seattle – Love them at Qwest Field against the traveling Lions.

Green Bay – Road team, but Tampa is bad and the Packers showed life late last week.

Jacksonville Maurice Jones-Drew should run wild, but the Jaguars' inconsistency puts them here.

San Francisco – They’re only one game out of first so look for them to keep heads high after tough loss in Indianapolis.
