As it happens a lot in this competition, the player who gets voted out comes on strong the next week. That was the case this week as well. Clinton Portis was your choice to be eliminated with 51% of the votes. In week 9 against the Lions he pounded the ball 34 times and gained 147 YDs for 21 fantasy points. At least it was fitting that a Washington Redskin be eliminated during election week.
Jamal Lewis survived his two week suspension and Corey Dillon is still alive despite sitting out a week with an injury.
Michael Pittman was a pleasant surprise this week. In most league formats he probably wasn’t even drafted because of his suspension to start the season. This week he rattles off 128 YDs and 3 TDs to lead all runningbacks with 32 fantasy points. Not a bad waiver wire pickup.
The Seahawks promised they would get the ball to Shaun Alexander early and often in week 9 and they did. He carried the ball 26 times and rushed for 160 YDs. He also added 2 more TDs to his season totals. Come playoff time, Alexander will be a big reason why the Seahawks are playing for the NFC Championship.
Anthony Thomas and his career are still alive. Making the most of his opportunity while filling in for the injured Thomas Jones, Thomas rushed for 110 YDs and 2 scores and the Bears staged a huge upset win over the Giants.
Now onto the nominees for this week’s Ultimate Fantasy voting.
Current contestant list: Shaun Alexander Tiki Barber
Marshall Faulk Ahman Green Priest Holmes Edgerrin James Rudi Johnson Jamal Lewis
Each week we’ll take the 2 lowest fantasy producers based on the Fantasy Sharks scoring system and put them up for an elimination vote.
Now that we are reaching the midway point of the contest, the competition is starting to heat up. This week there were no really bad performances from the remaining contestants so the bottom two Runningbacks up for your vote are Rudi Johnson and Marshall Faulk.
Rudi ran the ball 26 times for 95 YDs. He helped the Bengals stomp all over the Cowboys. Marshall ran just 12 times but for 66 YDs in the Rams loss to the Patriots.
So you get to vote, who is going to be eliminated? Place your vote now. |
