Review of last week:

Here is a list of last week’s plays.  Keyshawn Johnson, Jonnie Morton and Brandon Lloyd made good plays while Warner and Toomer didn’t produce despite a Giant rout of Minnesota and Brad Hoover is worthless.

2 big time Sleepers

“Coo Coo Cachoo” Marcus Robinson goes up against the Colts on Monday Night Football without Randy Moss.  We know the Colts have a horrid defense and we all know their offense is terrific so this game will be high scoring right?  I think so.  The Colts will be able to score at will against the Vikings who are poor on defense in their own right.  My question is how many points will Minnesota score?  I would bet less than the Colts but its obvious they will score their fair share and with Moss out Robinson and Nate Burleson become huge plays this week.  Culpepper will air it out to both these guys especially Robinson who has made some great plays this year.  The Colts were torched last week so they remain as the last ranked team for passing defense allowing over 300 yards via the air and 14 touchdowns.  That is disgusting and embarrassing.  Robinson without a doubt is a top 10 fantasy wide receiver this week.

Emmitt Smith going up against the Miami Dolphins aka. Quitters who allowed everyone but the fans to score on Monday Night.  Earlier this week I heard on a radio show Anquan Boldin and LJ Shelton discuss the Cardinal offense and they convinced me that Smith will continue his solid production this week.  They said the game plan (in not so many words) would start with Emmitt and would be successful as the offense line has looked great in practice.  Smith who is on pace for over 1,000 yards this year has a very good match up against the run defense of the Dolphins.  This week a number of solid running backs are on a bye such as Fred Taylor, Ahman Green, Chris Brown and Warrick Dunn so Emmitt would make a good plug in.  Numbers don’t lie and Miami has given up an average of 148 yards a game on the ground.  They rank 30th in yards allowed.  Now there pass defense is ranked 2nd so expect Dennis Green to go to the ground with Emmitt and he should come close to another 100 yard day.  A touchdown is possible, as he will get most of the red zone carries.

Quality Sleeper Plays:

Eric Parker/ Kennan McCardell both Chargers receivers go up against the porous New Orleans Aint’s pass defense.  The Saints haven’t stopped anyone all year actually they haven’t stopped anyone for the past few years and with Drew Brees playing so well both these receivers make a great play against the 31st ranked pass defense.  (They are 29th against the run too).  They flat out sink and if you have either of these receivers or can claim them off waivers go for it.  Last week Parker had 91 yards and McCardell had 55 and a touchdown.

Anthony Thomas will be starting for the injured Thomas Jones against the Giants this week and didn’t look half bad last week when he took the reigns over after Jones injured his foot on their first offensive play.  Thomas had 144 total yards.  Chances are he is a free agent in most leagues and if not already picked up he is worth grabbing especially if you own Jones.  Thomas lacks the explosiveness that Jones possesses but he is the only real weapon the Bears have, making him a decent play this week.  For the record the Giants allow 118 yards games on the ground.  That ranks in the bottom 3rd.

Eddie George is coming off of a 99-yard day and 31 carries. Great average Eddie.  Regardless of Eddie’s overwhelming yards per carry average he goes up against the Bengals who haven’t stopped anyone on the ground and even the explosive George should be able to put up good numbers this Sunday.  I will even predict a touchdown.  Digging deeper this game should be somewhat close but no way will the Bengals have a large lead causing Dallas to throw.  The Cowgirls will be running and with the Bengals 4.6 yard per carry average on defense even George should be able to average 3.8 or thereabouts and 20 plus carries is around 80 some yards.  You won’t be doing jumping jacks come Sunday evening but you should be fairly satisfied with George.

Brian Griese is hosting the Chiefs and will obviously continue his solid play from the past few weeks.  I won’t get into numbers but the Chiefs have allowed 14 passing touchdowns.  That’s basically 2 a game.   If you have your main quarterback on a bye and you can pick Griese up and start him by all means do it.  Also, this obviously means Michael Clayton should have another solid day in his bid for rookie of the year.

Best of luck as always.

Adam
