Week 17, the last fantasy hurrah. While some leagues have finished up their season to avoid having to play studs that are rested for the playoffs, others are still looking to see how to fill the void. If you made it this far, congratulations! All of your hard work and ample time spent mocking has carried you to this point. Although most needed some luck to get to this point. The problem this week is not just finding the key match-ups but also to see who is going to play the whole game and which teams are really playing to win. The 1st thing you should do is see which players on your roster are healthy.
Last week was full of injuries to key players and if these individuals are playoff bound then they are not coming close to playing this week. Studs that are in the playoffs most likely will be rested as well. Chances are your not going to be able to make waiver moves so look to your bench and see which players are getting the nod.
This has been an interesting fantasy season. My season is complete as I’ve won championships in two leagues (Mako Shark 4), lost two conference championships and was bounced out of the 1st round in another league. Still I’m proud of how my season went as I’ve never won a championship in any of my leagues before and this year I’ve earned two and almost played for 2 others. I’ll spend the off season looking back at what went right and where I came up short so that I can improve on my 2007 season in ’08. Good luck to those who are still playing. For those who have completed their season, don’t wait until June to start your fantasy season back up because fantasy football is now a year round event.
When trying to decide who should be in your line-ups you need to look at who has been hot at each position over the last three weeks. You must also keep in mind injuries and opportunities.

Removed From list:
Vince Young, Jon Kitna, Luke McCown
Kyle Boller, Eli Manning
The Golden Mug Award
Awarded to the fantasy player who came through for their team.
Anquan Boldin-
162 yds 2TDs. Boldin has missed 5 games this year due to injury and has had the season his owners had hoped but week 16 he won a lot of games for many of his owners.
Honorable Mention
Najeh Davenport-
123 yds 1TD, 44 rec yds 1TD.
The Urinal Cake Award
Awarded to the fantasy player who you would like to, well you know.
Adrian Peterson (MIN)
- 27 yds 0TD. 21 rec 0TD. Peterson came through in week 15 for his owners but let them down the following week. If his owners survived to advance, they could be in for a good game against
Dishonorable Mention
Earnest Graham
- 21 yds 0TD. 11 rec yds 0TD. Graham had been the savior for some fantasy owners who picked him up early off the waiver wires. His performance in week 16 showed owners that rookies hit walls.
MATCH-UPS
The match-ups
I like this week for QBs:
Tarvaris Jackson
against the Broncos. I must admit I did not think he would have been a decent fantasy QB but over the last 6 weeks, his is the #10 fantasy QB in Shark Leagues. Better then QBs like
Derek Anderson,
Brett Favre,
Philip Rivers,
Jon Kitna,
Carson Palmer and
Eli Manning. With that kind of production you have to like his chances against
Trent Edwards
against the Eagles. Although Edwards isn’t having the success like
The match-ups
I like this week for RBs:
Kolby Smith against the Jets. The Jets sit pretty with a top 5 pick in next years draft. They may already have packed it in for the year and some have said that there are players not happy with Mangini. Smith will look to end the year on a high note as
Larry Johnson will be back in 2008 to take back his starting spot. The Jets are 29th in the league with 140.2 yd rushing allowed per game and have given up 395 yds and 3TDs over the past 3 weeks.
Steven Jackson
against the Cardinals.
The match-ups
I don’t like this week for QBs:
JaMarcus Russell
against the Chargers. Russell had a rough outing in his 1st extended chance of playing time. This week he will face a hot chargers team that has won 5 in a row and wants to win the #3 seed in the playoffs.
Shaun Hill
against the Browns. Yes, I said the Browns. Hill somewhat decent over the last few starts but is playing in cold
The match-up
I don't like this week for RBs:
Musa Smith
against the Steelers. Smith hasn’t done much all season and has battle injuries himself. The Steelers will be playing hard to avoid playing
Travis Henry
/
Selvin Young against the Vikings. The Vikings have been playing well down the stretch to put them in the playoff picture. They have a chance if they can win this week. The Vikings have surrendered 238 yds and 3TDs over the past 3 weeks.
Where has the
Week sixteen’s brew of choice was Amstel Light. As always drink responsibly and don’t drink and drive.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
