Week 15 of the playoff saw some unexpected events that cost some fantasy owners wins or gave them to others. If you’ve been winning with
Tony Romo
,
Terrell Owens,
Tom Brady,
Antonio Gates or
Plaxico Burress, chances are your team was sent home. Even people that have relied on the Steelers Defense,
Jeremy Shockey and
Tony Gonzalez were left out in the cold. It was players like
Aaron Stecker,
Tony Scheffler and
Roydell Williams who carried teams into the next round. Just to give you an example, in my main money league where I had the #2 seed, every top seeded team lost. Unlike in years pass, the owners of the big studs are not dominating the fantasy playoffs.
Brian Westbrook’s unselfishness cost one owner in my league the chance to advance. It’s been a crazy, bizarre season.
When trying to decide who should be in your line-ups you need to look at who has been hot at each position over the last three weeks. You must also keep in mind injuries and opportunities.
The charts below are ranked according to Shark League PPR scoring.

Jason Hanson, Olindo Mare,
The Golden Mug Award
Awarded to the fantasy player who came through for their team.
Darren Sproles
- 122 yds 2TDs. In some leagues he has been a flex for leagues that award points for KR/PR guys. If you had him, he gave you super points. Heading into the game he had 5 rushing yards on the year.
Honorable Mention
Aaron Stecker
- 95 yds 2Tds 46 rec yds. If you’ve played Fantasy Football for awhile, Stecker is a waiver gem most people grab late in the year. He’s been on the Saints for awhile and when someone goes down, he’s there to cash in. If you had him as a handcuff to
Reggie Bush then you were happy you did.
The Urinal Cake Award
Awarded to the fantasy player who you would like to, well you know.
Dishonorable Mention
Kevin Jones
- 16 yds 0TD. After being productive in weeks 7-10, Jones has been inconsistent with one good games on weeks 12 and 14 followed by bad games on week 11, 13 and 15. As well as he ran on the Cowboys, it’s disappointing that he disappeared the next week.
MATCH-UPS
The match-ups
I like this week for QBs:
Donovan McNabb
against the Saints. Just when you go to bench McNabb, he’ll have a good game. McNabb will look to have a great game this week as the Saints have allowed 281 yds passing per game over the last 3 weeks with 7TDs and 3INTs to
Luke McCown,
Chris Redman and
Kurt Warner. The Eagles would play spoiler to the Saints playoff hopes if they win. However, a Saints loss could mean the Giants might clinch a playoff spot which won’t make the Philly fans very happy.
The match-ups
I like this week for RBs:
Fred Taylor
/
Maurice Jones-Drew against the Raiders. When your in the playoff hunt you want a team you can dominate with your best offensive position. After
Ryan Grant ran 156 yds on
Ryan Grant
against the Bears. The Bears Defense hasn’t been top notch and the team is struggling. For all the early talks about
The match-ups
I don’t like this week for QBs:
Shaun Hill
against the Buccaneers. Hill was productive over last week but face a Bucs team that shredded the Falcons while holding
Chris Redman to 34 yds passing. The Bucs also have allowed just 140 yds passing per game over the past 3 weeks but have given up 5TDs with only 2INTs. It seems
Kyle Boller
against the Seahawks. It doesn’t matter whether Boller starts or if Troy Smith comes in because the Ravens passing offense is mediocre. Although
The match-up
I don't like this week for RBs:
Adrian Peterson
(CHI) against the Packers.
Aaron Stecker
against the Eagles. Stecker has played well last week but this game could be a shoot out leaving the Saints the abandon the run and go to the air. The Eagles have allowed just 82 rushing yds per game over the last 3 weeks with only 2TDs.
Week fifteen’s brew of choice was Beck’s. As always drink responsibly and don’t drink and drive.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! |
