Week Twelve Waiver Wire Pickups

| More

Abbreviated version this week since in most leagues the free agent deadline has come and gone.  For those of you that it is still open, the pickings are getting extremely thin.  Not the usual format as I've only got a couple of players that I feel deserve a mention.  Not sure if we'll be back next week, perhaps we'll keep it going in an abbreviated format if people are still interested.  As always, thanks for reading and good luck!

RB Andre Hall, Denver
As we are all too familiar, Mike Shanahan changes from one RB to the next very quickly.  Hall stepped in to replace Selvin Young on Monday night and found the end zone on a long run.  I doubt that would be enough for him to get past Young on the depth chart, but with the Travis Henry situation soon to come to a close, Hall should be in the mix from this point forward.

RB Derrick Ward, New York Giants
No one is sure what the extent of Brandon Jacob's injury, and for that matter, the Giants aren't saying how healthy Ward is either.  Reports are that Jacobs could be out anywhere from 3-5 weeks, if healthy, Ward gets the nod as the starter over Reuben Droughns so Ward is definitely worth a roster spot if you can get him.

WR Drew Carter, Carolina
Steve Smith owners finally got a piece of good news, news that he wouldn't be playing this past week.  That was good because his owners are tired of sweating out a decision to put him on the bench while he explodes.  I don't think his injury is serious, and I really don't like recommending anything in the Panthers passing game, but Carter would be the guy to take Smith's place should he be out for an extended period of time.

WR Brad Smith, New York Jets
As with Carter/Smith above, Brad Smith is taking the place of the injured Laveranues Coles but the Jets are another team that I have a hard time recommending their passing game.  If Coles misses more time, then Smith will be the guy to get his playing time.

RB Michael Bush, Oakland
Digging a little deep here, but for you dynasty guys out there, if you've got a roster spot at the end of your bench, Bush wouldn't be a bad guy to have in that spot.  The youngster is likely to be activated from the PUP list, and while he probably won't get past Justin Fargas on the depth chart, he would be his backup.  I'd be surprised to see LaMont Jordan on the Oakland sidelines again, as he picked up a healthy 'inactive' status last week, so Bush should be able to get past the veteran on the depth chart.
