I am on the fence of whether I like him or not. Despite having a non-favorable rep throughout the minors (and even before that), the guy is doing all the little things. Running out ground-outs is one of the easiest ways to become endeared to the fans, and while some will say it's an act, I like it... I don't mind the face-paint or the cocky attitude. If you are that good at something and you aren't a little cocky, there is something wrong. I know old school baseball die-hards will disagree with that last statement, but I want my star to have that killer instinct. "I am going to beat you because I am better than you". Nothing wrong with that...

But Dear sweet Jesus, every talking head in the sport has already crowned him as the next Mickey Mantle. Take them out of your mouth and let the guys nuts breath for a second.

Bryce Harper needed 10 stitches above his left eye after slamming his bat up against a wall and having it bounce back and hit him in the head.

Harper took his frustrations out on the wall after making an out in the seventh inning. The wall won. The good news is that Harper didn't feel dazed and managed to avoid any serious injury. Nationals manager Davey Johnson hinted that he might have to miss a couple games, but the 19-year-old outfielder doesn't intend to miss any time.

Bryce Harper hit his first major league home run Monday against the Padres.

The first of many, we're sure. Harper connected for a long solo blast off right-hander Tim Stauffer in the bottom of the third. It was no cheapie, either, as it landed in the grassy batter's eye in straight away center field. Harper is likely to have many ups and downs as a 19-year-old rookie, but there's little doubt that the power is for real. He's now hitting .232/.313/.393 with seven extra-base hits and a 10/6 K/BB ratio over his first 15 games in the majors.
