This does not look like the shot for shot remake of the Eddie Murphy/Martin Lawrence classic that I hoped it was going to be :(

not to take away from your movie thread but Life was actually not that bad of a movie. Murphy was still in his "I have to do crazy makeup phase" of Nutty Professor so him and Martin got to be old.

It was directed by Ted Demme (nephew of Jonathan Demme) who interesting enough got his start working on "Yo MTV Raps". He met Ed Lover and Doctor Dre who then made "Who's the Man" which co-starred Denis Leary. Next Demme directed Leary in the classic "The Ref", went on to do the critically acclaimed "Beautiful Girls", made a bomb no one saw, then went back to the comedy well with "Life". After "Life" he made "Blow" with Johnny Depp then sadly went into a death spiral and died of a cocaine overdose during a celebrity basketball game the next year at age 38. That is a crazy rise and fall.

With Gyllenhaal my first thought was "no one can hear you emo sigh in space".

Comes out this Friday. Looks like a modern day Alien knock off. Rotten Tomatoes have it at a 88 rating though, which is high for them.

Just read this in a article about the writers for this movie:

Life, written by Deadpool scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese and directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), pays tribute to both those classics with a film that offers insight into the fairly simple idea of what it might be like to find life on another planet and what might happen if that existence proves to be hostile.

That can't be a bad thing, although I doubt this will have much humor in it.
