I'll split the difference at 10-11' (the shark, not Boogs's johnson). The width of the head is roughly 25% of the body length. Compared to the guy's arm, that looks to be 2.5-3'.

Hadn't seen that yet. Pretty cool, but that guy was lucky not to be chum himself.

I'm no shark expert, but refraction or no, that shark looked pretty freakin huge to me.

Refraction generally makes things look smaller...

I viewed the video again. There is 0 chance that is 14 feet. And at the angle you're looking at while it's under water you're seeing it much bigger than it really is and even at this angle it's way smaller than 14 feet. Even the clowns on the video say 12.5 feet - which is always exaggerated.

If objects right underwater appear 33% bigger than they really are, that puts it around 8-9 feet ...

With such great science as fishermen tend to exaggerate, and the head kind of looks to be the same length as the guy's arm, this thread should be on Myth Busters.

FUN FACT: Hammerheads are named so because of their unusual head shape which resembles that of a hammer. They're also not fond of Groupon and are racially insensitive.
