IF the oakland decides to tender Bush, I think they should just give him a contract.

Matt Flynn, GBP - there's plenty of debate on if this is viable option/gamble for the Packers

I don't think there's any debate at all. They simply do not have the cap space to franchise Flynn. They're almost $7mil short. He's gone...

Which will not be complied with. The Bears have made a decent offer for a long term contract, which he turned down. I could see a slight movement on the Bears part, but not much. I doubt anyone would offer compensation that would make the Bears trade him (ala Carson Palmer). Nobody's going to give up that much for a RB. I doubt they could get a single 1st or even 2nd round pick for him. He can accept the long term offer (maybe sweetened a little), sign up for the franchise contract, or sit.

If the iggles use the franchise tag on Desean in hopes of trading him. I don't see that panning out very well. At best after last season with wear and tear he brings a 3rd or 4th rounder.

JerMichael Finley, GBP - early optimism is turning sour with the lack of progress, tag likely

I read an article, his agent is lobbying for him to be considered as a WR for the franchise tag due to how much he lines up on the outside. I think it means $7M vs $5M for TE's but I may be remembering the numbers wrong.

WR -
Vincent Jackson, SDC - I doubt the Chargers want to pay the cost of franchising him again, but just AJ Smith is a sneaky bastard

From Rotoworld:
Quote:
According to the Union-Tribune San Diego's Kevin Acee, the Chargers will "almost certainly" allow free agent Vincent Jackson to hit the open market next month.

Whereas the Chargers acknowledge the necessity of overpaying to keep Eric Weddle last offseason, they reportedly believe this year's wide receiver market is "extremely deep." The Bolts insist they want to be in the V-Jax mix, but they're expected to be outbid "in the first few days of free agency." Jackson will be asking for at least $10 million a year as the top receiver available. Potential suitors include the Rams, 49ers, Redskins, Bucs, Bears, Jaguars, and perhaps the Vikings or Eagles (accompanying a DeSean Jackson trade).

Not saying they will franchise him, but I doubt they want to go through the effort for a 2nd, when they will most likly get a 3rd comp pick. They could find the space if they wanted to.

Of course he's gone... no one thinks he is going to be a Packer this year. Tag and trade is the talk.

I should lobby the NFL to consider him a DT... his hands are about that good.

DeSean Jackson, PHI - Eagles seem to be reversing course and keeping DeSean with the tag

Quote:
Citing multiple NFL sources, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Eagles will place the franchise tag on free agent DeSean Jackson.

They'll be able to do so, formally, in eight days. As the Inquirer notes, tagging Jackson will leave the Eagles with three options: Franchise and keep him, franchise Jackson and trade him, or use the tag as an avenue toward a long-term contract. The third scenario is least likely, and the first one may be most probable. The Inquirer mentions New England, Baltimore, and San Francisco as potential trade partners. Stumbling blocks for a sign-and-trade include Jackson's at-time toxic attitude, the high pick it would take to acquire him, and the mega contract he most certainly wouldn't play without.
