I love these kind of discussions, and I want to say right off how impressed I am with Pat for going against the consensus thought that permeates the fantasy world.

To Rugger, PWBowen and anyone else who thinks him an idiot, you should take a good long look in the mirror to find who you speak of.

When I first broke into the industry, I did so because I got tired of listening to every pundit, expert and wannabe writer stick to last year's stats, extol last year's virtues, and put blinders on to statistical analysis blended with common sense. When Shawn Alexander had his big years, I cautioned against him, right here in the tank. When Marshal Faulk was touted as a top 5 rusher, I looked at his "cleanup procedure" and raised a warning flag. When Peyton Manning had his huge breakout in 2004 and was perceived as a top three pick, I told everyone to run away. In fact I was a finalist that year for the best fantasy football article for that warning article.

Each time I was derided by most in the tank as well as the industry. Each time I was right. At this point I won't tell you about all the times I was wrong; for this discussion it is irrelevant...not to mention somewhat painful

The point is, Mike Vick has been here before. He was the next coming of Superman, and he has let down fantasy owners on more than one occasion. There is an adage; what goes up, must come down. Take a hard look at fantasy statistics over the years. It's damn near impossible for most players to stay at the top year over year. It's black and white...plain as day...clear as the nose on your face...use any euphemism you like.

Thanks, Mr. White, for having a set of balls and the willingness to flop them up onto the table and challenge the herd mentality that pervades fantasy sports. I won't draft Vick this year on any team, unless I seem him hanging around in the third or fourth round. And I honestly don't expect to see him there.

That's what happens when righteous indignation is coupled with blurred vision...don't remember now if it was from laughing, crying or drinking. Kinda like the Tea Party I suppose.

Makes sense that the sharks who've been around for a bit would have a broader perspective. I think the invective was really directed at the uninformed few who supported the author's original theme that Vick is a super-deity not to be questioned, that he hath returned to walk on water and anoint the believers with fantasy godliness and virtue.

We all know what a crock that is. Second chances are cool...but as a former coach once said...

"They are who we thought they were."

Hopefully the context isn't the same.

Patrick White has Mike Vick as the 6th best QB naxt year?

Patrick you should be banned from Fantasy Sharks Website..Vick at 6th in 2011??? Proposterous.. He has top 5 season stats right now, with 2 games left, He missed 4.5 games through injury and QB rotation in Philly, He has his entire offense coming back in 2011.

He has proven he can excel against tough defenses and destroy the weaker ones...

Its clearly a toss up for the number 1 QB between Brady and Vick, I give the nod to Vick because Bradys young team is too much to gamble on.
