Just kind of curious as to what kind of lineup requirements other folks use in their IDP leagues. Is there any sort of standard or traditional lineup configuration?

The league I play in is pretty wacky (we actually play punters and head coaches as well), but here's what we're using this year for IDP starting requirements:

1 DE
1 DT
2 LB
1 CB
1 S
1 DP (Any defensive player at any position)

I usually start a third LB in the DP slot. I'm interested in hearing what other leagues do to gain a little more knowledge for use in possibly tweaking our requirements next year. I think both DT and CB are fairly useless, so I'm looking for alternatives.

Just wondering what scoring you use for head coaches? Winning a contested call?

No LBs at all? That's wild. Can you play LB in your flex spot?

Head Coach is my least favorite aspect of our league, and most likely it will not be a part next year as the natives are rumbling about it. It's nothing more than a quasi-"pick 'em." His team wins, you get points. His team loses, you lose points. Depending on margin of victory or defeat, anywhere from 5 - 12. Completely frustrating that you can instantly lose 12, the equivilent of good RB/WR2 production, simply because your coach got blown out.

And no, I'm not the commissioner of this league. :)

In my league we have to start 2 DL, 2 LB, and 3 DBacks. Its almost weird, this is my first year doing IDP, and i find myself tweeking my defense A LOT more than i do my offense!!

We start 1 DL, 1 LB, and 1 DB (cornerback or safety)

Scoring is such that the top 5 IDP players are #30, #33, #49, #57, and #64 overall. This means they're important - but they don't drive the league.

Interestingly enough, all of the top 5 IDB are DB or DL. We've adjusted the scoring to help those positions get more points and keep LBs value a little lower.

We start:
2 DL
2 LB
2 DB
1 option (any defensive player)

Our scoring is alot different than other leagues. Ray Lewis ranked 4th overall in points last year.

In my Dynasty we start a "full" D. 11 starter total and we can choose from to start a 3-4 or a 4-3 (no nickle or dime packages as of yet. Just basic fronts). In FF-terms it looks like this:

DL. Start 3-4
LB- Start 3-4
DB. Start 4

Ecenssialy there are a DL/LB flex that decides the front. 3-4 is a huge favorite and the 4 linemen set is basicly used as a bye-week emergency thing.

well, we must start.........

1QB, 1RB, 1WR, 1TE, 1K

we then have 6 flex positions that can come from RB, WR, DL, LB, DB with no more than 3 at each offensive position and no more than 4 at each defensive. i like the flexibility.

2 DL
2 LB
2 DB

+1 WR/IDP Flex.

All players (offense and defense) can earn special teams points, but only defensive players earn points for tackles, DFR's, etc, and only offensive players earn points for standard offensive plays. Sorry Sapp owners, no points for Fatboy Slim lining up as a receiver.

in a league not featured on my signature, we play any combo of 4 idp's. tackles are 1 pt., assists are .5 pts., sacks are 2 pts, ints are 2 pts, pass def. are 1 pt. and fumble cause or recovery are 1 pt. there may be some other scoring, but i forget.

In my big money league we use 2DL, 2LB, 2DB with 1 flex at any spot. Scoring is as follows:

Fumble Recoveries (from Opponent) 1-99 4 points each
Forced Fumbles 1-99 3.00 points each
Number of Interception Return TDs 1-99 6 points each
Interceptions Caught 1-1 4.00
Interceptions Caught 2-99 13.00 points for 2, and then 4.00 point for every 1 thereafter
Passes Defensed 1-99 1.00 point each
Number of Blocked Field Goal TDs 1-99 6 points each
Blocked Field Goals 1-99 3.00 points each
Number of Blocked Punt TDs 1-99 6 points each
Blocked Punts 1-99 1.00 point each
Blocked Extra Points 1-99 1.00 point each
Tackles 1-4 2.00 points each
Tackles 5-99 13.00 points for 5, and then 2.00 point for every 1 thereafter
Assists 1-99 1.00 point each
Sacked a QB 0.5-20.0 2.00 point for every 0.5
Safeties 0.5-99 4 point for every 0.5

The biggest thing is that I think you should balance the Defensive side with the offensive side. If the defense isn't pretty balanced with the offense then what is the point of having them?

I like this idea. How many offensive players do you start?
I would think you'd have to balance out the defense, but 11 is a bit much on offense.
It might be cool to require 2 CBs and 2 Ss.
Requiring DEs, DTs, OLBs, ILBs, SSs and FSs might be too much, but it would be interesting.
