THE BALL KNOWS ALL

Hello All,

My name is Gary Davenport, I've joined Fantasy Sharks as an IDP Staff Writer, and I'm honored and excited to be a part of the Fantasy Sharks Team.

As a service to the Fantasy Sharks IDP Community I will consult my mystical sphere and attempt to provide insight into any IDP questions that Fantasy Sharks members may have.

I'll be back later, but feel free to ask away and I'll get to as many questions as possible. Questions will be answered in the order in which they were received, and I will endeavor to provide both my opinion and the reasoning behind it.

Please provide any information (Scoring, Lineup Requirements, and/or Rosters) that may be of help to the Ball's attempt to peer into the future.

Also, the Ball is unable to penetrate the mystical veil known as "The Link", so please do not simply post a link to your question. Post the question itself and I will gladly attempt to answer.

As always, please note that this Krystal Ball was Konstructed by the Kremlin during the Kold War, so any inkorrect information obtained from it is the result of Krappy Kommunist Kraftmanship and not the fault of the author of this post. :bang:

I'd say welcome aboard, but i've already done that over the past couple of weeks in another format ;)

Some of you may also know Gary from the IDP Manor at FFO.

A great addition to the tank :thumbright:

That's indeed where I first ran across Kilroyz Krystal Ball, and I agree that this is a big boost for IDP coverage at Fantasy Sharks.

Welcome!

Well, here's my latest Top 10 DL. I'm going to be working up new LB and DB rankings this week sometime (my pre-FA list is ALL jacked up).

1.) Justin Tuck – DE, NYG
2.) Jared Allen – DE, MIN
3.) Trent Cole – DE, PHI
4.) Terrell Suggs – DE, BAL
5.) Julius Peppers – DE, CHI
6.) Charles Johnson – DE, CAR
7.) Robert Mathis – DE, IND
8.) Ndamakong Suh – DT, DET
9.) Justin Smith – DE, SF
10.) Darnell Dockett – DE, AZ

Edited to reflect Umenyiora Surgery

Do you see Babin's sack count going down now that he's in Philly, or are their going to be more sacks to go aound between he and Cole due to the improved CB situation?

Having Cole Opposite him sure ain't gonna hurt, but I have a hard time seeing a guy who had 17.5 sacks in the 7 years preceding last year (when he had 12.5 in a contract year) ripping off 13+ this season.

FWIW, I have Babin at 21 in my latest DL rankings...he's a serviceable DL2.

Hi Gary, I Enjoy your analysis and always look forward to your articles! I have to pick an IDP keeper by this Saturday. Are your LB & DB top ten coming out soon ? If not.... My choices are Stephen Tulloch, Desmond Bishop, La Ron Landry, David Hawthorne or Roman Harper. My initial thought is Tulloch but I'm not sure if he'll be a 3 down LB ? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks !

With the uncertainty surrounding Tulloch's role in the nickel he'd be out for me, leaving it a two-way race between Bishop and Hawthorne. It's close, it'd help to know your scoring, and I'd give Hawthorne a long look (his value skyrocketed when Tatupu left), but my off the top first inkling would be Bishop slightly over Hawthorne.

It's an ESPN League. We carry 4 IDP's plus the other usual positions. It's too bad Landry's Achilles is an issue...

Defensive Players Scoring

Each Sack (SK) 2 Every 5 Total Tackles (TK5) 1
Interception Return TD (INTTD) 7 Fumble Return TD (FRTD) 7
Blocked Punt or FG return for TD (BLKKRTD) 7 Blocked Punt, PAT or FG (BLKK) 3
Each Interception (INT) 2 Each Fumble Recovered (FR) 2
Each Fumble Forced (FF) 1 Each Safety (SF) 3
Assisted Tackles (TKA) 0.8 Solo Tackles (TKS) 1.5
Stuffs (SF) 1 Passes Defensed (PD) 1

Thanks !

That's a fairly tackle-heavy format, so I'd definitely go with one of the LBs. Like I said, I'd likely lean Bishop slightly over Hawthorne, but it's close. I'm going to work on my LB rankings today (laid up recovering from a trip to the ER yesterday), and I'll go ahead and post my Top 20 once I get that far to give you an idea where I'm coming from (and H**l, it's possible that by the time I slot everyone Hawthorne ends up a spot or so ahead of Bishop...NO IDP's value got a bigger shot this off-season than Hawthorne's did.)

Glad to see The Ball getting some use. Having an Active IDP forum to bang around in this season is going to be a treat (tried to get one going at FFO, but ended up mostly talking to myself). #-o
