Football? Who needs football?
Big East basketball is where it's at....at least for this year.

Huskies and Orange look to be the class of the league again.

UCONN looked to be out of it this year, but the addition of man-child drummond will go a long way in making this team a contender. this team has a shot to be better than last....I'm talking throughout the year, not quite end result.

Good start yesterday, regardless of opponent for the Huskies. And the dunk by Lamb was....disgusting.

Lot of good basketball left to be played here before the conference crumbles..

I think Pitt could contend again this season, Khem's gonna be a big defensive presence on the inside.. The loss of Wanamaker hurts, but Dixon will have the calvary ready to go by the time the real bball begins.

I could see three or four teams this year that could end up winning this conference, with about 8 or 9 bids likely for the conference again. Conn, Pitt, Cuse, Ville, Cincy, and Marq are good bets for the dance, WVU, and ND should make the tourney (but could be on bubble watch for awhile), and G'Town and Nova in the mix, maybe one of them makes the tourney. St John's is gonna struggle losing all that they did.

Rutgers might make some noise, but probably won't be able to sniff the top half of the conference. Same schools are lurking at the bottom as usual.

Let's get it going. =D>

Cardinals are going to be really good this year. Although they are having a lot of injury issues early on,this has a look of a top 10 team to me. Better talent and depth, especially at the 4 spot. Siva is primed for an outstanding year. If you want to bet I will put a few of my meager sands on them finishing above your Huskies this year Marty. Same to you Lesean. This is Pitino's best squad at Lou. IMHO. Believe me, as a big blue fan it isn't easy for me to heap any praise on the Tards..., err, Cards.

Sure, wth.. I totally believe any of those 4 teams have a legitimate shot of winning the conference though..

LBSU's legit, but Pitt played god awful in that game. Yikes.

How about 10% of our sands? Let's make it 250 so I have something left for tourney bets. Can't believe I am betting on the Cardinals. :F

250 is fine. deal

game related note, uconn continues their difficult early season schedule by beating coppin state. next up, UNC-Asheville who's actually played NC St and UNC decently.

One of the great things about being a UK fan is they ALWAYS play a great non-conference schedule. This year it is Kansas,St. Johns, IU.UNC and U of L. Plenty of chances to have your flaws exposed early enough so you can get them fixed going into the SEC.

Did the Bearcats really lose to the Presbyterian "Blue Hose" At first I thought it was some kind of Avatar porn.

If any program should be able to handle their Hose you would think it would be UC.

Pitt's struggling right now.. Just not as much senior leadership as Dixon's had in the past. More talent imo, but they're inexperienced and the chemistry isn't completely there. They'll get it corrected though.

Syracuse like last year, is long and athletic, and very deep. No one superstar, but 10 guys that will see the floor, and most of them can score. The zone will give teams fits that don't face it often, and the transition game is a big strength. 2 weakness will be replacing Jackson in the paint, so Fab Melo and Keita have to step up, and FT are always a sore spot. Should be a fun season, and we'll see if Syracuse can finally get past the sweet 16, the drought has been since 2003.

typical uconn. no adjustments made in second half....and lose to an inferior UCF team.
same thing today....no adjustments, and FSU comes back.

things will get sorted out in time, i have no doubt about that....but for now....tough goings

oriakhi isn't making good decisions here. already in Calhoun's doghouse for something, he responds via twitter to jamaal coombs-mcdaniel )transferred to hofstra) complaining about playing time. that'll go over well.

uconn sitting at 10-1, having played noone, and beaten noone.

conference play starts next week, with 3 out of the next 4 on the road....but none of those teams are likely to be in top half of league. however, seton hall is sitting at 11-1, which is shocking, frankly.

Nothing new there. But, I can't argue with the tactic looking at their record over the years.
