Don't ask me how we got on the subject (because I honestly can't remember), but my son and I wound up talking about buttocks this afternoon, and we began to debate if buttocks is singular or plural.

I say it's plural, because you have a left and/or right buttock, while my son insists it is singular...meaning that both sides make up one concise unit called "the buttocks". Any medical types out there that can clear this up for me?
