Paul Oliver-DB-Chargers Feb. 25 - 10:15 am et

The Chargers might move 2007 supplemental pick Paul Oliver to safety.

Oliver (5'11/195) could back up Eric Weddle at free safety. The Bolts need a new nickel back with Drayton Florence leaving. Oliver may fill that role.

Report: Chargers inquire about Jason Taylor

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Chargers have made inquiries to the Dolphins regarding Jason Taylor.

We're not quite sure where he'd fit with Shaun Phillips and Shawne Merriman already at OLB, but GM A.J. Smith can never have too many good players. The teams also have a history of dealing (i.e. Chris Chambers, Cleo Lemon, and A.J. Feeley). The Dolphins' asking price around the draft was a second-round pick. San Diego would probably be an ideal landing spot in Taylor's mind.

Antonio Gates-TE-Chargers Jul. 21 - 8:42 pm et

Antonio Gates resumed running and cutting on his surgically repaired foot in individual drills at Chargers training camp Monday.

It's the first time Gates has run in front of the media all offseason. "I've come a long way," he said. "I felt really good about cutting on my left foot and making sharp cuts in game-like situations." This is splendid news for the All-Pro tight end, although foot issues can recur and Gates estimates he's at only 65-70 percent. Continue monitoring him closely before drafting him.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Chris Chambers (ankle sprain) "appears likely to sit against the Patriots" in Week 6.

Chambers has been a scoring machine in the early going; he's tied with Anquan Boldin and Terrell Owens for wideout touchdowns on only eleven catches. Craig "Buster" Davis will likely start in Chambers' place. Also, Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson could see more red-zone targets.
