Chelsea have sensationally sacked manager Luiz Felipe Scolari.

The club's website revealed the dramatic move had been made "to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for".

World Cup winner Scolari had only been in the job since June 2008, when he became Chelsea's third boss in a year.

Yeah this was a shock given Scolari's stature and the fact that he's only been in the job for half a season, but the talk is that he'd lost the dressing room and the players weren't responding to him anymore.

The latest buzz is that Guus Hiddink will take over until the end of the season - but will continue to manage the Russian national team as well. Hiddink's a great coach but I wouldn't like that situation if I was a Chelsea fan.
